Topic: Frame Drop at Video Mixing

hey guys,

im using for test a MAC Book Pro 13,3" late 2009 with 4 GB of Ram.

Using VDJ Versions 6.0.5, 6.0.7 and 6.0.8
M-Audio connective Soundcard, No Controler Pluged in and No external HDD

My Samsung 40" LCD for external Video.
Im Using a Miniport -> VGA Adapter to connect the mac to my tv.

Video Preview Window NOT opend.

Ive the following Problem:

When mixing Video .

Deck 1 plays a Video (This Video running to the Master Video Out)

on deck 2 i load a second video with no problems.

when i Start to play the video on deck 2 the Video frames on the Masterout goes down - i would say about 15-20 frames per second.

The video on the Master is now "hanging".

If i stop to play the video from deck 2 the video runs smooth.

When i Crossfade the whole thing gets very slow...

Also if i Play from CUE to CUE for example Cue 1 to cue 2 and hit the cue buttons ive get at the beginning of Cue Play a Blackframe (No Video output und the Masterout) The Blackframe is definitly not a part of the Video. After a few trys The Video is shown Correctly.

Where is the Problem ?! Ive also checked the Performance Settings to Minimal..

Any Ideas ?

Hey Bud, do you know if your video card has dedicated "RAM" or is it shared? I have the same issue but I believe after extensive research its due to shared RAM on the vid card....not 100% sure though since I can play 4 individual videos in quicktime at the same time with no issue.
 
You may want to use App zapper to uninstall VDJ - there is another one somewhere posted in here but I can remember.
Then run disk ultilies to check your drive for errors.
Then re install the latest version of VDj and try again.
If you are still having issues make a new user account (i.e. a new clean system) and install.
I used a few versions on both my 06 macbook pro core duo with and ati 128mb chip and a 08 mini with the intel integrated graphics and they should work good on anything higher than 6.0.5.

yes its with dedicated Video 256 MB ..

on the MAC is NOTHING other than VDJ, my connective drivers and some videos ..
but perhaps i will give it try..

Kill all power savings. Kill all effects on the desktop (bouncing icons and stuff). Kill wireless. What hard drives do you use? What format are your videos?
 
im using mp4 videos on the Internal HDD!

Wlan deactive. .. other ideas?

Are you sure you have a dedicated video card? I am sure all 13.3 mac have integrated graphics, 9400m or 320m with 256 MB DDR "shared" memory. I run video with a 9600GT (that's why I kill all power savings to kill the 9400m that I also have). I understand that at least the 9400m is underpowered to mix videos, I don't know about the 320m.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2,56 GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB Dedicated ..

Problem with the Pro Series perhaps ..
