Forum: Old versions

Topic: I have 2 frustrating issues...

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

As the title suggests there are 2 things bugging me with my set up, could be a software issue or even more likely a set up issue but all help is appreciated...

1st. I was under the impression that the BPM engine of the newer versions was superior to the old 4.0, I am not seeing that at all. I am finding almost ALL of my tracks are off in one way or another. If they BPM is showing correctly, I typically find the anchor markers are off with the "large block" used for the beginning of a measure or first downbeat is almost always at the 2nd beat of a measure if it's even on a beat. For instance, with my Jones TM mp3's I add in the bpm to the tag, then I load it into a deck and the CBG markers are waayyy off even if it's a very pronounced beat. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

2nd. I use 2 Denon 3700's with the Asio driver connected to my Dell Inspiron Core 2 Duo 1.83GHz with 2 gb of ram and an external Seagate 8mb cache drive. When I load a song in a deck and hit play it has to proceed forward before I can use the 3700's platter to manipulate the track. If I were to scratch in a song at the first downbeat it have to start playing the song a second or two before I can move the track backward or forward with the platter.

So there they are, my 2 pressing issues, can you help? Thanks. Let me know if I need to provide more info.

On your first issue there are a few reasons why the CBG (Computer Based Grid) may not appear correctly, however this is easily solved. Take this track for eaxmple:

You can see the CBG is approx. half a beat out. If I right-click on the decks BPM button above the waveform, I get presented with the following dialog:

By moving the slider to the left, I can re-position the CBG and align the first (larger) block where I need it. As I have done here:

Once changed, the details are stored along with the track in the database and will now always align.

I do this on the fly - in other words when I first load the track. It's not worth doing in advance as you never know when or even if you will play the track...

You can also adjust this while the track is actually playing!

Hope this helps,

Roy

Thanks Roy, I do that now. I haven't noticed the new version's BPM engine to really be any more accurate thatn my old 4.0 version. I was hoping to find a way to set it to be more accurate to begin with and then have some tweaks.

I looked in the new features and wishlist forum and see a number of other people are asking for a real time adjustment for those tracks that aren't a steady BPM. That would be good too as there seem to be a lot that are spot on to start then as the temp changes it goes to crap, LOL!

Anyone have any other input on the platter control issue as well as the BPM's?

Thought I'd bump this thread back up to see if anyone has any clue as to what's up with my player issue.
