Topic: music library browsing

Ok, sorry I am sure this has been answered but I can't seem to find it so I'm asking again.

With the old 4.0 versions, you could simply click on the database link in the folder pane and you could then peruse your entire music library, how can you do that in 6.0 versions?

I have my music drive divided into genre folders with a few of those folders having sub folders. Only in the lowest level folders can I browse it's contents. Is it possible to click on the drive in the folder area of the browser and have all my library show in the file/search results?

Thanks in advance....

There are a couple of ways:

(1) Type the following in the search box: *

(2) Create a filter folder:

  • Click on the blue + folder icon.

  • In the Name box, type: All Music

  • In the Filter box, type: isscanned=0 or isscanned=1

ah, thanks, never even thought of those two ways.

If I create a filter folder for all, will it always included newly added tracks if I add them to the database? I haven't used any filter folders yet but think I may need to learn them and use them.

It will include everything in your search database, so providing you have added your new music (Right-click on its folder and choose Add to Search DB) then it will be included.

There are some other examples of filter folders on the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/FilterExamples.html

Thanks JP. I'll start working them in.

Now I see you're the Midi controller support guy ehre, can you help me get my Denon 3700's working at peak performance?
