Topic: Best Laptop For VDJ ?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I recently purchased a Sony Vaio laptop but had issues with the touch pad so I ended up returning it and before I purchase another laptop I was hoping someone could shed some light as to what laptop would be the best. I'm an avid Apple user and after purchasing my first PC laptop and returning it within 6 days due to a manufacturer defect I'm kinda leaning on the Apple side of things even though the Mac books are some serious dough. Any ideas would be great. Muchly appreciated

I'm both a mac and pc user and don't necessarily like one over the other as they both their place. For VDJ I use a '08 macbook with 4gb of ram, but also run XP on it with bootcamp so I can use my SL1. It works great even on bootcamp(though xp can only access 3gb of ram), the only place it falls short is video but thats because the '08 macbooks don't have dedicated video card.

Personally I'd buy a Macbook Pro if had the money, but as you said they are expensive, though do get a great product for what you pay. What it really comes done to is how you want to pay. As far as pc, dells are an economical solutions and you could probably find a nice used one for good price. Asus is good too in my experience, they have good components and are one of the best desktop parts manufacturers IMO. I'm surprised about your Vaio as I know some people who love their Sonys.

My advice is, if you have the money get a Macbook Pro, and if you decide DJing isn't your thing then you'll still have a very powerful laptop. If a Mac is too much then figure out your price then go on newegg or tiger direct or such, find the best five laptops that fit your needs/wants then narrow it down further. You may also want to set aside some money to buy XP if you don't like Vista or 7, although I do recall tiger direct allowing you to downgrade at discount price, but that may only be certain laptops.

Hope this helps, cheers

Hello,

Maybe a good acquisition could by Toshiba Quosmio. there are several configurations, but one with Core i5 or better, and even you can use Intel video card 4500 with Windows 7 64 bits.

I like better Windows 7 32 bits to have full drivers support on several devices. Manufactures are working to have full Windows 7 64 bits support but not all are reliable, that's why some users have problems with their personal configs.

I'm not a Mac fan, but also VirtualDJ Pro version for windows give more options today than Mac version does. So for me a laptop Windows based computer is the way to go.

How much are you willing to invest in your laptop??

Im right around 800 to 1000
