Topic: Help : Managing CD's and Organizing

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi everybody , im just starting as a DJ playing in some little parties and events. I bought the CK-800 to start learning and getting some skills to later improve my set , but I realized i need to manage my CD's having them in an organized way , but i really dont know how to. Some problems that usually happen to me are :

- Forgetting which music i have on every CD
- When they ask me for a special song i don't know if i have it or not because i have a lot of music
- Desorganized CD's so sometimes I dont know who is the artist or the genre

I bought this 224 cd wallet , and i was thinking in putting like in microsoft word or something like , the name of the albums and put the tracklist of each cd and print it out and then put it in an binder , so if i want to play an special song just search it there , but maybe that will spend a lot of time.

So i would like to know you people that are pro DJ's how do you manage your collection and if you can give me some tips or advice that can help me. Im really interested in starting out but this is making me crazy.

Also i would want to know which software would you recommend me to burn my cd's?

Thanks I hope you can help me ;) , DJ Elepzia

You need a tracklisting of each cd put into excel then print it and put it into a sleeved folder. Label your CD's alphanumerically and keep them in that order in your wallet. Done.. its not rocket science but basically when you looking for songs you go thru your printed listing in the folder. Each song song should have reference to the CD.

I would recommend getting away from that asap. Its too slow and cluttered.

VDJ has an inbuilt cd ripper which you can use. My personal opinion is to use windows media player... nothn flash but it does the job. Make sure you change the format/quality to what you need.

...or you can just step in to 21st century, stop fiddling with CDs, get Virtual DJ and just play MP3's from your laptop ;)

I was thinking the same thing. Starting out as a DJ using CDs seems silly in this day and age.

Best way to rip CD's is to use iTunes, alot of useful features, download correct album covers, organize anywhichaway you want and it's FREE.

And yes all file information and covers show up in VDJ....

Good Luck

Joey....

Be careful using iTunes to rip your info. Another DJ I know did this and some of his ID3 info was switched. I think it swapped the album name and the artist. It reads it fine in iTunes but other software reads it wrong. This is something new. I know I've used it in the past and didn't have this issue. I use Windows Media Player too to rip.

Definitely put your CDs away! VDJ is designed to use a hard drive. Hard drives are at a very reasonable price (compared to the past). Rip your CDs and let VDJ find the songs for you.
