Topic: Video's woopin' my cpu's a**!!!

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

First the facts :
Motherboard--A8N-SLI DELUXE
CPU-- AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ running at 2212 MHz
2 Gigs of Corsair Ram DDR (PC3200)
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT, with 1 gig ram on card.
Hercules DJ Console Rmx
Windows XP service pack 3 (with all up dates, and all drivers are up to-date also)

Quick and simple description, start playing videos (vob) and the first two to three play, and there is no draw from the cpu. By the time I get into the 6th to 7th video, I have watched my cpu usage peak into the red! The crazy thing is that if I stop playing videos and play music the cpu usage is still peaking in the red. As a matter of fact I don't have to play anything and my cpu is still in the high yellow range. if I restart VDJ all goes back to normal, and as long as I don't play videos. I only see a small peak in cpu usage when loading a song. Anyone have any ideal why this would be happening? I really want to make video part of my services. As of now it's the 10th round and my cpu is getting it's a** kicked! Thanks in advance.

Ok guys...still waiting on any help here. What would cause a cpu spike like this. And once it starts spiking the only way to bring down my cpu usage is to close VDJ and restart it. This only happens when I play videos. I can do an 6 hour gig with music only and have no problems. Got alot of smart people on this forum......can anyone help please. Thanks.

Almost same specs as mine, but mine is better lol

4Gb Ram
Win 7 Pro x64 Bit
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX

But anyway.... Windows Xp, is that 32 Bit or 64 Bit, You need a 64bit OS to take full advantage of Dual Core Processor.

I my self are not very impressed with Asus motherboard, i think theres something with the A8N-SLI that is at fault.. But anyway.

Basics.
You got any apps open? Internet, MSN or anything else?
Have you got enough power to the PC. I have 900W PSU, but i doubt that will be a problem
More ram (4Gb is max) is what i would recomend.

My guess is a memory leak and the CPU is having to counteract to keep the pc's performance up.

These are my guess's.

That's simply not true I'm afraid... :)

Dannyboy2005,
I am currently running XP, 32 bit. I have no open apps, as this machine is for DJ'n only. I have a 800w power supply so I think I'm good there. I'm starting to lean toward your thoughts (A8N-SLI that is at fault). I'm going to give the registry tool a shot. I'm afraid that might not help, because I did a "downgrade" from v6.0.7 to v6.0.2 and I am still having the same issues. Thanks for the quick responses. I will try the registry fix when I leave work.

The registry fix will only work if you are using 6.0.7 ... it will not assist in resolving prior version issues.

So Teamer, if I go back to 6.0.7 will this tool help, or do you think that due to the fact it's happening on both new and older versions this may do me no good?

?????

Damn..... I've been taught wrong at school :(

*Goes to Google To Research*

Well folks time for a small update..........dannyboy2005, you were right! It was that dang A8N-SLI that was the "bad-guy". Loaded windows XP on a sata drive and plugged it in to my home machine, installed VDJ and ran videos all night with no problems at all. Crazy part is my viideo card in my home machine is a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT with only 256 mb on the card. Watched my cpu levels, and it never got above 25%! Well now me home machine will become my "gig" machine. Thanks for all the help fellas!

Glad you got it sorted.

Is your other system similar spec? If so, have you noticed faster CPU

Every since i installed the ASUS, computer's not been running quite as fast as i thought it should and sometimes i think it's not quite capable for the CPU. Iirc, when i were looking at Mobo's, This was one of Asus's earlie mobo's that were to work with dual core. I my self think the mobo has never been right from day one.

Dannyboy2005,
My home system is real close to my "gig" system.
Processor:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Motherboard: abit AN-M2HD
Memory (RAM) 3.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256mb

Also used the Windows XP - SP3 Audio Optimized link from pOpYDJ and this seems to be working fast and great! (Thanks pOpYDJ for the link)
So this weekend I guess I'll be changing out the guts of one machine to another! Can't wait to start mix'n them videos up! More to offer as a DJ means more money more money! Thanks again for all the help!
