Topic: Time Code Vinyls W/O Sync

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Just wondering! Who uses Virtualdj with Time Code Vinyls "VDJ or Serato Vinyls" without the use of the sync or Auto Pitch Matching option. Ranging from bedroom djs to superstar dj's, is there some one out there that just depends on the turntable pitch?

Please post back and don't consider this a nonsense post.

Thank You

Figures. So far 34 read and no answer.

No need to post reply already got the answer.

82 so far, no answer.

Hum! Pitch mixing Dj's are gone.

I am in danger of extinction.

The wonder no body complaints about TCV pitch mixing on VDJ.

If I'm doing a regular set I use the pitch sliders on my turntable, if I'm doing mega-quick mixes I'll use auto-sync.

i use pitch too..
I use absolute mode, so I have to use pitch

But the question is kinda of strange.
Both cd players, mixers and VDJ/Serato/Traktor etc have BPM readings.. so adjusting the pitch even a newbie can do, with ease.
And matching pitch the old school way isn't hard either.

And if you match pitch by slider or a button dont really matter.
Its hitting the right beat and structure of the song, having the right track collection etc.

How easy and fast it is doing it manually.

Maybe the people who have viewed so far:

* Don't use TCV?
* Are repeat views by users?
* Can't be bothered to answer

I use TCV and don't use the Sync or auto-pitch functionality. Ever. I suspect must TCV users are the same to be honest. I don't complain because it works just fine for me :)

I too never use the sync button whilst using Timcodes. It sort of defeats the object of using turntables or cdjs.

If you are always wanting to use sync to mix songs then i would suggest you use a midi controller or something similar

Hi guys, nice seen some reply's. At the moment I'm at work so I can really take to much time to reply. When I get home I will explain. My question is not a challenging question, but like I said I will explain later on.

see yaaah!

Ok, still don't have to much time to reply, just passing by. I hope this week things ease off a little so I can have some spare time.

Check My Structure and Track Collection

i do not use timecode, but use manual pitch matching

i actually stopped using vdj and use traktor now because of pitch control. i use stanton 3d and 3m and have pinpoint pitch control now

i will try next ver of vdj when it is out and check my controller support, i prefer its video capabilities. with traktor i have to run a separate video player... ot 2 laptops

I use timecodes and I DO use the sync. You make it sound like the fact that you are doing it manually is the holy grail of DJing. Just because one CHOOSES to use it doesn't mean they can't do it the other way. Personally, I would rather sync and then use my ears to make sure everything is right. That way I have more time to concentrate on making an audibly pleasing mix rather than making sure my 2 decks are together. The people dancing on the floor really don't give a crap if you do or you don't.

I'd have to agree with that - unless you had a room full of DJ's dancing ... lol

And might I add that just because you DO use sync, doesn't mean you will get an ACCURATE sync. It all comes back to using your ears.

Oh indeed... Sync is a tool for a DJ not a replacement for a DJ ;-)

Sync is a tool for someone that cant or doesnt want to do it manually. No matter how you put it.. That's what it really is.

actually they do.. ;-)
Using a turntable is all about "the show". The sound coming out isnt any better, but the "wow" factor is lost a bit..

Well, maybe I misunderstood what the sync feature is. I load a song, press B twice (to sync, i.e. make the bpm's match), then scratch, blend, or otherwise transition in....Sorry I am not a real DJ because i don't bother the pitch slider unless I do some type of effect with it. If that makes me a "bedroom dj"....err, ok...I'm cool with that. Show me a club where people are watching how the DJ is mixing, and I'll show you a club that's probably not hittin on anything BECAUSE of the DJ.
