I conected my 2000's today to use them as controllers, and the jog wheel is heavily delayed in operation and response as apposed to using timecodes. It makes it really hard to scratch and is really annoying.
Also the pitch control plays up, i.e i can move the pitch slider down, but the on screen pitch will not follow or change until i move the controllers slider up and past it, i.e as if to catch it up. (If that makes sense?)
Any ideas?

Have you made any adjustments to the Scratch, Bend, Cue sensitivity sliders in the Config -> Options tab?
Also, have you made any adjustments to the 'JOG Adjust' knob on the CDJ-2000 ?

Still crap. Timecodes piss all over these in response to scratching etc.
Finding it hard to use like vinyl no mater how much i mess about with that bar in the options tab. With time code cd's, they responded instantly and i could scratch with no problems exactly like vinyl.
With these it's impossible as the jog wheel position and cue point seem to move and lag, so you can never get the scratching feel or back to the point you started once you move the wheel. This is my only letdown for these players, amazing in every other aspect.
But i like to scratch :-(

He is not using TC with them ... :)
Antz - did you also play with the Jog Adjust knob on the CDJ-2000 in conjunction with the settings in VirtualDJ ? I have found that the Scratch sensitivity at about 80% and then using the Jog Adjust knob allows for better fine tuning.

yeah i tried that. i cant get the response like i get with time codes or cd's in the decks, so cant get my usual scratch patterns.
Shame really as i was hoping to get rid of those things that play the big black disc's. Turntables i think they call em. lol.

The best way to describe this, is put a cd in the 2000 (or 1000) and scratch a beat. The operation display on the jog dial display follows your finger exactly. Nice and spot on.
In HID mode, do the same, the operation display (playing position) is so far behind and delayed. If you adjust it in te menu it is impossible to get it right (well i cant). I might as well use time codes to be honest (defeating th object of why i bought the 2000's).

i found that the sound card selection made a big difference to the responsiveness of the platters in scratching etc.
if i chose to use the sound cards on the cdj2000's as output, it was more laggy.
if i chose the ASIO sound card driver, it was more responsive.
would this be correct?

yeah, asio is linked directly to the hardware instead of having to go through all the layers ofwindows to ge to the soundcard
asio will always be faster
