Hi Michael

The Karaoke part of your question is still the same basically you'll need to re-zip at a lower compression rate if you are having issues with Karaoke files.

I've included a link to a free program MP3+G Toolz to help you do that and you will be able to process the entire folder in one operation, But Still BACKUP ANYWAY, under options you will need to set the compression to (5) and make sure that the naming format is set to the naming format your using now, like Artst - Title.

As far as the video the teamers are working on a fix for some video cards and os issues which don't play nice with VDJ, but there are some good suggestions that you may try on this thread that will be helpful to you.

VDJ 6.5 is pretty stable you'll be able to enjoy the new features in this release.

As far as timecode maybe someone else can help with this.

Good Luck

thanks for the help man. As far as the recompression is concerned, how long does it usually take? I have 596GB of karaoke songs (around 170,000) so I was wondering how long it would take to do that.....I know it took 16hrs to back up the drive, lol. Again, thanks for the help man. Anyone care to address the timecode issue?

Michael

I would start with the files that don't work, then move to the Genre you use most often or the lable you like chartbuster, pop hits monthly and so on till your done.

Good Luck

sounds like a plan. I haven't upgraded yet to see if I even have to re-compress or not, if I don't have to do it that would be even better, but if I did, roughly how long do you think it would take? like lets say 1hr/GB or whatever. I just need to get an idea in case I have to cause I work 4 nights a week right now doing club and karaoke gigs (thurs, fri, sat, sun) so I just want to get a ballpark of how long it would take me to do this. Again, thanks for all your help man.

Michael

P.S. feel free to highball the time, I'd rather it take less time than more time, lol.

First thing, if your karaoke files work with 5.2.1 they will work with 6.5 because I made the same transition from 5.2.1 to 6.5 and had absolutely ZERO problems with any of mine, that being said doesn't mean you may not run into a wayward file once in a while, how many time have you played all 170,000 files in a show?, chances are you have some stray files in that size library.

My opinion, I would go ahead with the upgrade, I also debated this for the same reasons, here is a suggestion a teamer give me.

Install 6.5 to a separate folder, when the installation defaults to your current 5.2.1 folder, just create a new folder naming it VitualDJ 6.5 and point to that new folder for your new installation and that's it., you'll have separate database files for 6.5 and 5.2.1 and you will be able to use either program.

When you first start 6.5 if I remember correctly their is a conversion process within the new 6.5 database which will not effect 5.2.1 database at all.

I believe you will enjoy the added feature in 6.5, I know I did.

Good Luck

Joey...
