Topic: Light & Small flightcase for air travel?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I have 2 CDJ 400s and a DJM 800, starting soon I will have to have a way to carry them on flights. Here's my issue: The players weigh about 6 lbs each, the mixer is about 17, so the gear alone with no case is about 30 lbs. If I were to carry the gear as checked luggage, I will only be allowed to have a 50 lbs limit. Does anyone know of a coffin solution that would hold the gear, stand up to frequent air travel and weigh less than 20 lbs?

Second Q: The thought of checking all this gear is scary, to say the least (Have you ever seen how luggage is loaded? They call the people that do that job 'throwers' for a reason). I always carry my laptop and hard disks as carry-on, and I was wondering if there's a way to also carry the other gear on?

Does anyone know of a carrying solution for these pieces of gear that would be carry-on size?

Niels.

Yeah, I just had my RMX smashed to bit's by one of these throwers. Sold it for spares and repair and bought a new one in France altogether cost me 200 quid after I deduct what I sold the first one for.

Usually you send your stuff over in a create a week or two in advance, why you taking your stuff are you moving? if not, doesn't the place your working at have this gear it's pretty standard.

There are stock flightcases all over the net for this setup.

I travel back and forth from Orlando to NYC every weekend. School and clubs gigs during the week in Orlando, private events on the weekends in NYC. Most of the time I'll just carry my laptops and harddrives in a carryon with no luggage (like you, I don't trust throwers with my equipment). Best advise to you would be this. You can take two carry on's on the plane: one is a "personal bag" (purse, laptop case, briefcase, etc) and the second is another small bag or case. I would get a backpack or laptop case built for djs that can hold your laptop and the mixer. They are out there in all shapes and sizes, just do a good search. For the CDJs, this might sound a bit getto, but it's the only way to carry them on: bubble wrap them once or twice and put them both into a small carryon suitcase with the rest of your wires and headphones. use your head, and you'll make it fit. it wont be a convenient or pleasurable trip through the airport, and security will most likely pull you aside and check the contents of your bags, but at least you know everything is safe in the overhead compartment. If you plan on traveling to the same place frequently, work on setting up a second system..I had to do that when I moved for school, and it was costly, but worth the convenience. Or, if playing various club gigs in different locations, just make sure you provide your equipment requirements in your rider that you give to the promoter.
