Afternoon all, well i\'ve just finished installing Windows 7 (Home Premium, was considering getting ultimate, but i have no need for any of the additional functions - some people may have, but i didnt) on my Macbook Pro via Bootcamp (3.0) and i am presently surprised.
Had to manually update my Nvidia graphics card driver, as it would update through Windows - no big issue there.
Have installed VDJ and run some test on it and (at the moment) i can\'t find any fault, some more testing might show otherwise.
I was also quite surprised by the score in Windows Experience Index - this changed dramtically after manually updating the graphics driver - i would highly recommend doing the same for any one else.

The lowest score in the Experience Index was for my HDD. Unless you have a solid state drive you will not get above 5.9 - (i have a 500gb 7200rpm drive in my Macbook)

What do you mean install manually the graphic drivers? doesn't windows detect? what i can see you got rates around 6, what is the maximum?
by the way...
why use windows 7 if you have snow leopard?... isnt VDJ running well in Snow Leopard? or do you have this partition for proofs and other tasks? i just want to know understand in order to know if it worth and maybe do the same

I am a video dj. Whilst VDJ for Mac under Snow Leopard works great for audio, there are some glitches in video. I have never had a crash in Mac however.
I am also a skin developer/desginer and do this under Windows. =)

So, if i want to mix videos, snow leopard is not that good....
which midi controller do you use? i was thinking to buy the vci-100 but isn't already clear to me if will run with snow leopard.

VDJ Mac has almost no video effects compared to Windows VDJ. Controls work tighter on windows version (jogwheels on controllers) and the Mac Flickers like crazy (don't worry, audience don't notice this), Windows has no flicker. On the plus side on Mac, the program is less likelly to crash under Mac in a Macbook Pro. Mac recovers faster from a crash and I don't know about the Echo you plan to use but an Edirol firewire makes me want to smash the mac under bootcamp. So if you want stability and clean audio use snow leopard, if you want video effects use bootcamp and a USB card like de NI 4. The VCI should work on snow if you don't plan too scratch, my experience with a Total Control is lag on the jogwheels, Everything else, loading, aplying effects, equalizer should works under Snow Leopard. Also take into account that the Macbook Pro only has 1 firewire 800 port so you will have to daisychain the Echo and the external firewire hard drives in case you use them and need a 400/800 firewire adapter for the Echo Audiofire. So far I have had no problems doing this under Snow Leopard running only video. I recommend you to buy and inexpensive controller like the Hercules Steel until the debate on what controllers will work fine under VDJ 6. I was going to buy the Vestax VCI 300/NS7 or something like that (just for the pleasure of it) until I gave up until I know what really works. For now I make people jaws drop with a modest Total Control, an Edirol FA66, 4 Mackies, 2 proyectors, lights and a good smoke machine. The controller is less important unless you scratch wich I don't. I only do video mix live. What's important is what you play and the ambience you create.
Saludos.

1.- i don't know u people... but what i expect for something that i buy, is that the thing or service, and more if it's expensive (at least for me) works at all, if not why to buy... i just moved from pc to mac, and just think to use windows in my mac, even the bootcamp... no way... i just moved from the dark side.
2.- you say... the vci "should work", i won't invest 500 usd and hope with good wishes that it runs... i need to be completely sure if it will work with snow leopard... Vestax doesn't replay my questions about snow leopard.
3.- i wont buy a product or use it in terms that recovers faster from crash, i expect that something (VDJ) that will cost me 300 wont crash in the first place.
4.- the moderators have told me that the vci is native mapped and the sensitive plates are supported with VDJ V6.02 in order to scratch... in the other hand the bugs in the video performance exist... so ... or i wait for a next release or consider another sw that support the vci and the videos, and waiting for the disclaimer of the Snow leopard thing.
again thanks anyway for you advises... no hard feelings please paisano

Hi djtouchdan
i do video too and also use bootcamp 3 to run Win XP (currently). and it works flawlessly besides the key lock issue.
i was wondering if i should upgrade my XP to win 7. will i get a better performance?
Also if the answer is YES then which vers. should i install: 32/64 bit?
im using CDJ400 as sound cards and midi controllers, also a DJM800 as a controller.
my main goal is beeter preformace (lower CPU usage, better latency ext.)
thanks,
Omry

reviving an old thread since it deals with Bootcamp and Windows 7..... I am trying to reduce the latency on my Windows 7 - Bootcamp 3.1 set-up. Can anyone tell me what they have discovered in terms of bad drivers here? I have a NASTY spike somewhere and will have to search out the culprit, but any advice in where to start could save me lots of time. I have a feeling it might be the new Numark DJIO 2.9.13 driver, which is easy enough to check, but maybe its the Apple Bluetooth driver or some other system driver? How do I turn these system drivers off in Windows 7? Can't seem to use the Process Manager for these ones...

turned off all networking services, and the spike disappeared
