Up to recently I've pretty much played club/house music so the equipment I had worked fine. I've picked up another night at a couple clubs and it's more of a hip/hop, reggaeton crowd and need to upgrade. I'm looking for some pro's and con's of either going with TCV's, TCD's or something like the Hercules RMX. If I go the tcv or tcd route I'd have to also get a new soundcard (probably should have a spare anyway) Looks like the rmx would be the most inexpensive way, but wondered if you get enough control and how the scratchin sounds. Leaning towards the rmx because of a tight budget, but don't want to "underspend" then be disapointed. Again, alot of different types of users here, so looking for some feedback. Thanks gang.

If you're into scratching - for whatever reason - definetly go for TCV/TCCD. Since you most likely already have a mixer and decks, all you need is a proper sound card.
The whole point of scratching is that it's caused by physical contact. That's why controllers can't fully simulate the sound of real records sqeecking.
One more thing about the RMX. For some reason people on this forum recommend RMX also for people who need just a sound card. I don't agree. If all you need is a sound card, then get just a sound card - not a mixer/controller/sound card all-in-one product like RMX. It's not that great of a product as any of these categories, but for the price of a RMX you actually get a decent USB/Firewire sound card.

If you plan on scratching at all, Get turntables or cd players (Pioneer cdj 800's). You can do hip hop with a controller but it's not as fun because you can't scratch. You can mix, blend, cut and drop but no scratching. I have done clubs with just my laptop and my soundcard on one ch on my mixer ant tore it up but I don't recommend it.
Two decks, a mixer and tcv or tccd really is the way to go.
The RMX will NOT do it for you. Don't waste your money on it. You will be disappointed with it for what you are trying to do.
Sorry to say there is no really cheap way to get it done besides bargain hunting.
If you search online, you can find good prices on used gear.
One controller that could work for you are the xponent but again, not really for scratching
Good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks for making the point about scratchin & physical contact aurelcandy. Not realling lookin to scratch much. Already have a good mixer and soundcard, although I end up using the clubs equipment. I guess the main question is which direction to go for better control when mixing hiphop. Like I said it's a new style of music for me, so I'd say I'm fair at best with it and don't think I can get much better with just a mouse, mixer & laptop. I know the biggest part is PRACTICE, just lookin to kick it up a notch with equpment. Thanks for the input so far.

When it comes down to choosing a controller, the genre you play is irrelevant. If you're not planning to do much scratching, it's up to how much you're willing to spend on the controller.
