Topic: Video's went missing any ideas?

So last week at my gig I fire up the external hard-drive and click on the video folder & see there are only 392 vids in their where as there were over 2000. Did the check & fix thing etc. reboot everything and still missing a crapload of vids. I did have them backed up on another drive, but anyone have any idea as to what happened to them? All the other folders on that drive are fine. It only affected the vids. Very strange indeed.

This is speculation but, what kind of videos where they? Where did you get them from? I wonder if some DRM protection kicked in...
 
they were a mix of promo only, 8th wonder & some one off's from other places. The drive did have a small tumble though and maybe that's what did them in.
 
When I check the filecount in VDJ it says I have almost 3000 video's, but the Music Video folder when it opens only shows around 400. It also has been freezing when I try to open certain folders, and I have to go into the task manager to close VDJ & restart it. Any ideas?

I have re-installed Ver 6.02 to see if that is the problem.
 
Have you tried recursing the root folder, click on bpm column or time column. Then scroll down to the bottom, they probably need re-analysing. This is a current curse with VDJ. They don't show up in the search if they need analysing, does my head in. :-(

I do this at the start of every gig now to make sure they are OK. One drawback, if they need analysing, you lose the cuepoints. :-(
 
The problem is the folder that the 3000 plus vids were in open now says there are only 300 or so but if I search them they will come up but when u try to load them it says error wtf?

What da puck does that mean? As in "it was here and then it was in the air for a split second, and then it was on the floor, bounced up and then hit the floor again" kind of small tumble?
 
fell apprx 6.785 inches (literally) but the only files missing on the external were the videos, everything else is fine. But VDJ was freezing even trying to open certain files on the desktop so I re-installed VDJ to see what happens.
 
Check your event log for hard drive errors, chances are your file table has been corrupted. Since you have a back up of all your files what I would do is backup your database XML file found on the root of the drive. Then reformat the drive, after the reformat copy back all the files to their original locations and the XML file to the root. Check the system log and see if there are still errors being reported.
