Greetings all,
I need some suggestions on a soundcard for my laptop. I don't use turn tables, decks, scratch, or any other thing but my laptop. I am pretty much a classic rock, country, and dance DJ. The sound that comes out the headphone jack just plain sucks. I did buy a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro USB Card (looks like a thumb drive). This works ok but I am looking for some more suggestions. I do plan on building a rack mount PC so I can run my vids and karaoke from one machine. However this is going to take some time. Thanks for the help.

Don't know what your budget is and since you don't do timecode, the Maya USB 44 would be a great choice

M-Audio Fast Track Pro is a good solution for your needs. (headphone cue monitoring, ability to connect microphone and balanced outputs)

How is the Numark DJ/iO?

Not terrible. I had one. At first it worked fine, but after 1 year, the sound became very bad. This is not a good card.
I have now bought a NI AUDIO 8 DJ and is the top. The sound quality is amazing and this card is very robust.

There are a plethera(sp?) of sound cards out there? Like it was stated start by know your budget? Then go from there?
If you just want time code the Maya and or the M-Audio Conect are good starter sound cards. But they both have their issue with sound.
I myself have used a Maya with no issue BUT I had to crank my mixer all the way up to just get it to sound good?
That is why I am waiting for the Hercules 4&6 because it's what's best FOR ME!!!
Continue to reserch and you will find one that is BEST FOR YOU!!
good luck

The M-audio Connectiv is a great card. Its better than a maya 44. The Connectiv has a very good feature that all the sound cards dont have.. You can switch from timecodes to audio without connecting extra cables. The sound quality is very good and It has been proven to work by many time code users..

Hi Hoesayito
Perhaps you could look at one of the combined controller/mixer/sound card units like the Herc MK2 or RMX.
Also worth checking that the version of the software that you have will work with whatever sound card you choose because the LE version will not let you work with multi output or two card setups.
