just was wondering what you all think is the best way to store your music....b/c i got like 10,000 songs and all those wont fit on my computer.....was wondering what you all use external hard drives etc.......was wondering what the best one i can get and where

I just purchased a Seagate free agent 320 gig (usb no power supply needed) for my laptop, most stores sell them on sale for about $ 85.00. You can put them in your pocket.
 
actually if your computer can't handle 10,000 tunes you seriously need to upgrade that first then go for the biggest external hd you can afford, others on here prefer to store direct onto the computers own hard drive but realistically that isn't possible for most of us.
 
If its a laptop we're talking about external is a very smart, safe, secure way to store your music. Make sure you get an external hard drive that has its own power supply, not one that gets power from your USB hub. If we're talking desktop you can always add another internal drive and store your music on it, keeping the main drive to operate the programs needed for smooth operation.
 
the macbook i got has 320 gigs of hardrive.....i just wanted the external hard drive to store all of my music....ill definatley keep all my playlists and the songs i use in vdj straight on the computer.....i just dont think i need all 10,000 of my songs straight on my comp.....i think the songs on your playlist inside of vdj need to stay on your computer on not on a external drive or you will loose all of your cue points and such???? correct me if im wrong
 
Yes, the USB powered drives are not a great way to go. I know, many guys have said they use them without a problem but it's safer and less stressful on your computer to use a powered external.

ok i just need to know is it going to be a problem transfering my songs from my hp to my mac.....i was going to do that with my ipod by putting all the music on my hp computer on my ipod, plug it into my mac comp and then transfer it over to the mac computer with the program i have called music rescue then from there i was going to put it on an external hardrive
 
You shouldn't have any issues.
 
Why in the new V6 will it not recognise all my tunes on my external hardive? When I search for titles it hides some titles, it does not display them all.
