Topic: Laptop Keeps freezing

HP Pavilion DV9700 Laptop
Intel core 2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83 GHz
4 GB Ram
Vista 64bit Home

VDJ 6.1
H RMX

Every time I Boot up The Taskbar and the bottom on the Desktop freezes
Cant access start menu, or any of the item an the task bar
I can Right select on the desktop but if I was to open any application, My computer, VDJ, Manager. They freeze after opening

If I Ctrl + Alt + Del, and select Task Manager everything unfreezes.

However, there is more. This has been happening for about 3 months now

Will be playing at a gig.. all of a sudden the music stops. RMX light ]s are flashing and VDJ behaves as if the RMX sound card is gone.

I end up running out of the headphone jack the rest on the night..

When I get home the only way to get VDJ to C the RMX as a Controller or a Sound Card is to remove all RMX drivers and reinstall them..

So today I reformatted the drive, (I have done this before to try to correct the problem)
And from the time I finally got to the desktop the taskbar was frozen again..

No VDJ or RMX driver installed yet

Did a complete Windows update but still this is happening

I’ve had this laptop for almost 2 years and this just started happening back in may..

I just figured out when Taskbar is frozen I can access everything with the keyboard but not the mouse. Onboard or usb
 
IMHO the processor is not enough to run the 64bit O.S. Also what do you play at gigs? Audio? Video? or both?

Did you upgrade your laptop from XP to VIsta? kinda a small processor for a 64bit OS??
 
I run everything on this laptop,, for a year and a half I never had this happen,,, never,,, this laptop has been very reliable, Every other week the sht hits the fan and loose rmx operations. laptop is not running hot all seems good but this

I don't even have that crazy video freezing problem on the laptop

It has 512 ded on the vid card as well.

and as I said. once I use conrol alt delete , it work fine but saturday ..night before MX issue.. the software world freeze.. I used the C+A+D and it worked ..

could something be going bad on the laptop.. Is there a software that will check the hardware?
 

It's more likely a software update problem. Check for any installed software or maybe harddisk fragmentation. (Use defrag)

PS. RAM could do that all time if a memory module is defective. But it give you a blue screen. Freeze is more likely a USB or any other device not found or a malware software on your PC.

It stopped freezing one I updated every drive I could find

I was thinking its A USB thing,,

The RMX USB seems to be the issue… I opened up the RMX and the everything looked fine..

What took me back to the RMX was I installed drivers and everything was working great..

Got up today.. plugged it in and the light on the RMX just blinked continuously.. Like before..
TRIED OTHER USB PORTS, a different laptop. Changed the usb cable

That is a sign that your firmware has not been installed correctly or has failed. You can reset the firmware by following this pdf manaul

My mouse was giving me issues aswell so u must be right

I'm almost certain it's a firmware issue or a defected unit

Could you try this, try to install your RMX on a PC that has never seen the device before or any Hercules Driver packages. I can remember reading a thread about this. The user did this and her RMX accepted the Drivers and firmware from that PC and it cured the light problem out.

i have one other pc i can try but.. do i need to install the drivers
 
i will nee to do this after my gig. thank you

I did conect the rmx to the other pc and the rmx didnt show up in DM
 
if this thing don't work by morning i'm going shopping..
