I used to be able to set up a loop, then as the loop was playing make it smaller and smaller (towards the end of the loop) and then hit OUT and then the track would kick in but the new version is only letting me have a loop MAX = to 1 beat (nothing smaller). I used to like making the little clip at the end and then releasing it on the beat now I can't do that (very tiny sample repeating quickly (less than 1 whole beat)).
Any Ideas?

You can change the size of a loop using loop_half (or loop_double) but IIRC these move the loop out marker rather than the loop in marker. You can however move the loop in marker manually, effectively resizing the loop.
loop_in +1 for example will move the loop in marker forwards a beat, shrinking the loop length. You can use other values; for example +0.5 or +2.
