Topic: Buy Hercules RMX. Keep Home Edition Too?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi, all: I love the home version of Virtual DJ and am now looking to move to the next step. I did all the research and have decided on the Hercules RMX. Before I head out this weekend to pick it up I'd like clarification on a few things:

1) The RMX comes with the LE version of Virtual DJ 5. If I install the program, which I know I must to use be able to use the RMX, then will I lose my Virtual DJ Home Edition that I just bought a few months ago? I'd like to still be able to use the home edition as a back up with my good ol' keyboard and mouse should some sort problem arise with the RMX and LE version.

2) It just hit me that I will be getting a Macbook very soon (I'm on a Dell Laptop right now). If I load the Limited Edition version packaged with the RMX onto my current laptop, then will I still be able to load the LE onto my Mac? Will I have "used up" the product key or something? Oh no, I just realized something even more potentially painful....

3) I'm planning to buy the pro version of Virtual DJ for a myriad of reasons, but most urgently so that I can get my smart loops back after installing the RMX (I've read on the forums that those awesome auto 4-beat and 8-beat loops will go bye-bye in the LE version). If I buy the pro version and load it on my Dell, will I have "used up" that product key and have to buy another Pro version at full price to use on the Macbook?

Wow, all this stuff to think about. I may just stick with my mouse and buy a brace for the imminent carpal tunnnel syndrome...

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Your "Home Edition" will not be affected. You will have both versions on your computer to use as you wish. If you have any reservations you can change the VDJ Home Edition.exe name in your VDJ Home Edition folder in the program files area of your computer. Then on the desktop give the icon the same name e.g. "VDJ Home Edition.exe" and "VDJ Home Edition" on the desktop icon. I don't think you will even need to do that since the two products are different so "VDJ LE" shouldn't overwrite "VDJ Home Edition".

You can't install Home Edition on a Mac because it's for PC only.

However, you can install the DJ Console Edition on both PC and Mac. The license allows to installs for your own use, so you can install the Console Edition on both your PC and Mac if you wish (Obviously you will need the console connected to use them though.)

Thanks alot fellas! I really appreciate the quick responses--I'm itching to get things going with the RMX. I feel much better about the upcoming purchase. Next step VDJ Pro 6! With the half price discount that's applied for RMX users, how can you go wrong!?

Much respect and gratitude fellas!

Hey fellas. So I bought the RMX and it's only been two days, but everything seems to be working perfectly. Here's the thing though: In the options/config menu it indicated that I could try out the pro version of VDJ for 20 days by pressing OK. That sounded like a great offer, I've been dying to check out VDJ 6, so I did it just about 30 minutes ago. However, I was surprised to see that what was made available to me wasn't VDJ Pro 6, but VDJ Pro 5.2. I've theorized that the CD the RMX came was probably an older CD that had 5.2 already installed on it, because there was no dowload necessary to get it to work--so if the CD is older then it stands to reason that VDJ 6 wouldn't be on it. I can live with that. But what's really bothering me is that when I closed out 5.2 out then decided to go back in to check something else out, the screen indicated that I had 5 DAYS remaining in the trial period. Not 20 days as indicated in the options, but only 5 days, which is not nearly enough time with my schedule to go through the features. Who do I write to about this? Business is business and I would like my 20 days of 5.2 Pro as paid for.

Thanks for your forthcoming guidance.
