Topic: Transition to the future!!

Ok I have been with VDJ for a little over 2yrs first a DJC user then finally pro..:) I have been catching all kinds of hell from my old school buddies about how these programes take away from the art of DJ'ing and what not!! Yeah you all heard and know the stories from the few DJ's still stuck in the past?...lol Untill recently at one of the local radio station that is ran by one of my old school buddies he asked me on the side...like it was some mafia talk?.....about transitioning to the future and buying VDJ?.....I told him about DAM TIME!!! and asked what made him change his mind and feelings twards computer dj'ing? He said it was my video mix that i did!! :) He said he loved it and always wanted to do it but was trying not to piss off the "old school" comunity...lol I told him look we go way back since "86" :o and you know I have been in the trenches with all of you!!! It is only natural to be a little hesitant with change!.....Also programs like these don't take away from DJ'ing it makes it more conveinant!!! You still have to have the ear to blend you still have to practice on your scratch!! the auto sync is a tool not a cheat!!.... Now some of the other Dj's use Serrato. Is it me or what!! but most Dj's I know that use Serrato user I-Mac pro which I have NO problem with but they act as if they are too good to use anything else? This MOOK!!! came into this club I was dj'ing at and asked me what did I use? I told him and was like "Man you should get Serrato and dump the 800MK II and get 1000 MK3 and get a I-Mac?" I was like "why" he said its better then the crap I am using!!......I was like LOL.......Look little thundercat!!! :) all that crap you just said does not make a DJ? a REAL DJ can mix on anything!!! can make CRAP sound good!!! when you can do that then come talk with me!!1...lol

Anyways back on topic here I told my buddy to Transition to the future here with VDJ and the "old school" comunity can either follow suit or be extinct!!...lol i know a little harsh!! but hey iths the truth!! I have been fighting the "old schoolers" since I got into computer dj'ing being a "old school" dj myself but it feels good when I can help a old buddy move to what is the norm and future of DJ'ing.......

I am an old school DJ and I get that comment in my ear now and then too. I did the whole vinyl experience, then CD's and on to digital. My life in general is the same, I transitioned from the 80's into the 90's and now. While many of my comrades became stationary and stuck in a rut because of their fear of change I progressed through the times and never looked back. So when some old timer or new school smart-ass comes up to me and says "you must suck, cause you need a software to help you DJ?" I just laugh and tell them to move the f*ck on to some other fool who can be swayed by small-minded BS. I DON'T care. No one but me has ever paid my bills, I live very comfortably because of, well...me, so I owe no one! I've lived too long, seen too much crap and ate more than enough BS when I was younger. I hadn't paid my dues yet, when you're young you just have to grin and bare it, but now I just bare my middle finger...and you can TOO!!

Of course he was in your club on a Friday and or Saturday right! I just ask them where they spin and how they get the night off to come see my show and thanks for the compliment to have all these serrato dj's taking nights off their busy schedule just to come see me playing with my crap!....I'll be the says something like "Nowhere right now now" or sometimes I play at X" or "I'm taking time off right now cause I don't like the scene".

Rock on VDJ, As I have always said Seratto, the choice of wannabe dj's everywhere!

Thanks Renée, I do, but that was just one long rant that actually didn't amount to anything really important to anyone but me. No apologies.

Rude "puppy"? lol, baby gurl I wish, I'm just an old dog....well, I don't wish really, I'm glad I'm not a "pup" anymore, I wouldn't trade the entire two decades of my 20's and 30's for one day in my 40's. You may be younger or even older than I... my 42 years isn't pup status, unless you're my Mama's age and I doubt that. ;)

Is someone in a bad mood today?

I think 99.5% of my posts are decent, helpful and well edited. Even some of the Team and mods loosen up once in a while, I don't even think my post was really that bad. Sheesh, SOME people!!

As far as becoming a moderator for a Video/Karaoke board, it was a suggestion a couple of people made to me. If it happens, great, if not great.


If I've somehow offended you then, I APOLOGIZE! See, I know how, even if I say I won't! lol

BTW, my sons are literate and in college, and for the most part I show literal acuity but then we all have our days! Writing in this forum isn't exactly like writing a Doctoral dissertation though is it? I do know about those...


Can't we all just... get along!!??

WOW didn't mean to stir any feelings here!!! This was just a post kinda like a rant / happy ending for me.. I just felt the need to pass on my experiences since here are fellow Dj's and the so called "old scool" can relate to what I have been going through trying to push twards the future!!.....

We can get along its just certain ignorant people that dont know how to keep thier mouth shut. Always saying the most ignorant things in the forums. I guess at that age they cant get attention from men so they blurt out anything like little kids so they can get it. :)

Let me use breaks because im worried about the reader. :) I dont want the Paragraph Police to get mad at me.:)

If your friends are more important than you making a lot money DJ'ing with VDJ, than don't use it
