hi guys, i just got myself a pair of RCL passive speakers cheap, but, how do i hook them up to my amp???
heres what i have,
2 x RCL passive speakers with 2 x 5mm jack sockets in the back.
1 x technics SU-700 amp, with regular L/R outputs for speaker wire. it also has some phone out sockets
1 x inkel PA-2000 public address amp with mic outputs(not much use really) some R/L wire outs and some 5mm jacks that look to me like a bridge of some sort.
please could someone tell me how to connect my speakers to my amp? or do i need to rid myself of my current amps and buy a new one with 5mm jack outputs???

PA-2000 public address amp will run in mono out 8ohm using 8ohm & com ,as power, the pdf file say it look like the rms will be for pa-2000= 60w & pa 4000=120w, but i would not us it sell it on the technics SU-700 amp will be a 4 ohm you will over heat amp .
look for a 300w so stereo mode,2x 8ohm load = 100w x2speakers if runing 4ohm load = 150w x2speakers whitch is just over. as for cable the live is the tip and the nev is the bodie of a 1/4 mono jack.look for somethink like this http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?sku=DP30090&_requestid=318219
hope this helps

well today i was mooching around and i found a skytec amp that i was thinking of buying. it has 2 x 150w outputs and they are 6mm jacks, i have been informed by the store that they will sell it to me for £50 which is £5 off the marked price. but they also said i can have it cheaper if i trade in my other amps. got to get them there first though. so maybe i can get the price dropped to maybe £30 with the trade in.
btw when you say the pa-2000 will work in mono, does this mean that i will be able to use this amp to power my speakers???

Yo, 150w p/c really isn't a lot of power. You would have to be doing party's in peoples front living room only and then you would struggle, these amps are just for playing backround music in shops. You need at least 450w p/c

he has said the speakers are 90w and just doing house parties only so 450w amp is to much .

For what I read, you can use your 90watts 8 Ohms speakers with PA-2000. But you have to look that RMS Watts in your speakers is more than the RMS power in your Amplifier. Also Pick power in your speakers have to be more than pick power in your Amp. If you don't do that, you will blow your speakers. Also it has to be measured with the same Ohms. If you got a 8 Ohm 90w, your Amp have to be no more of 85w RMS (8 Ohms).

Find out what the RCF speakers Handle in RMS. The majority of DJ speakers are 8 Ohms..... Example... If your speakers push 300 watts rms in 8 Ohms. You can use an amp that is 300-400 watts RMS in 8 Ohms.

I've never heard of such equipment, I think it's all domestic hi-fi stuff. 90w speakers WTF

@ charlie. these speakers "ARE NOT" for public performance. if you are the type of person that practices in your home with your entire setup and k's of wattage thumping through your neighbours walls then so be it, but i have a little more respect than that. these speakers are for home use.
@ acw dj. where did you get your info??? can you please send me a link. thanks.
@ Caliente123. the speakers are 8ohm if that helps,
@rollyspeller. i tried using the 8ohm/com as power but i get no sound. any ideas??

that is the exact INKEL amp that i have........and i paid only 99p for it. maybe selling it will be the best option after all. i obv wouldnt expect to get that much but to the right buyer i might be able to get a few quid.
the average price of a new one was £249.99... bargain or what??? lol.

I learn this when study phisics in high school and also reading high fidelity reports.

You can find a lot of info in there. I can't access your speakers and amp specs, but it seems to work ok together.
Good Luck!

Yes, I use PA gear at home because I've already got it and because it's better than hi-fi.
I use a 1x full range 15" wedge monitor by wharfedale at close range.

Hi Blu.
Lets keep it simple.
1st. Be very carefull when messing with "PA" amplifiers! Many of them have a selection of outputs which operate at 70 and 100v. These outputs are designed to operate specialy adapted speakers with very long cables. DONT mess with any connections on this amp marked 70 or 100Volt Line. At best it will damage the amp/speakers at worst it can KILL YOU.
2nd. RCL speakers are from the SKYTEC stable of cheap made in China type usualy sold as Disco Boxes. Ok for practicing in the house but don't run them hard or they will die V quickly. Not realy up to even small house party dutys so don't try.
3rd The Technics amp will work fine for home practice. In fact the SU series amps are very good quality but they are made for HIFI not flat out running. when you are using it make shure the amp has plenty of airspace arround it. Running 8 Ohm speakers from an amp designed to produce its full power into 4 Ohm speakers will NOT do any harm at all. It just wont produce all the available power. Just stick to sensible levels and you will be fine.
4th Best advice with Skytec is don't. Its cheap for a reason.
Finally. I understand some of the points made by the other guys but everyone has to start somewhere. As long as you dont expect miricles from this stuff and you are only practicing in the house you will be ok. As has been suggested a good 400W per chan amp and speaker combination is what you need for house party/ small pub venues so as always start saving. If its in good nick when u get it sell the PA amp on to someone who will know how to use it. Send me an email when you get the amp and I will be happy to help you hook it up.
Keep trying mate. You will get there.
PS check youre email more often.lol
