Phil,

Thanks for the input, many VirtualDJ users are using Windows 7 and have no reported any big issue with VirtualDJ or their systems, so it's ok to go if anyone want to test it, but don't forget it is a beta version and could be some errors in there even if is Release Candidate.

I dont understand what the deal is with Windows 7. I am a Pro dj and i need something that works. XP does the job for me. Many ignore what is recomended and just get what looks nice or something that just came out. DJ sofware requirements are for XP and Vista. Not windows 7. I have a home computer and would get it next year.. My laptop still remains XP. This is why i Rarely have any problems. How Would you feel if your computer crashed on you in the middle of a party ? I have a business to run and things have to work..

xp is very good but memory is limted win 7 will be the way to go next year

My last crash was with XP back in 2008.

I have VISTA with a "Big Computer" and I have been crash free for ALL of 2009.

Usage: (3 nights a week, 5 hours a night, 90% Video)

A crash can happen with any operating system. But XP is alot more stable than vista. 2 gigs of ram is more than enough on a operating system that doesn't consume much. Vista however consumes more resources and has higher latecity. This is why you can add more ram. On a laptop, latecity is very important. When your dj ying with time codes, the 100 % time code reading on XP reacts fast. You move the pitch and pitch on the skin reacts fast. No delays. 100 % percent reading gives you smother transitions when you are mixing and a fast responce when you scartch etc.

Dont get me wrong but, i will install windows 7 on my home use desktop. For windows 7 on my laptop, i will wait untill its recomended to use and proven to work Excellent. I wont install it even if the dj software company just announced that it can work in the new OS. Ill wait for the flaws to be discovered and fixed with the updates.

You're getting your techy facts mixed up.

Yes Vista is more resource hungry, but adding more ram, or more over, the ability to add more ram, comes from the larger register sizes in the new generation 64bit processors. This is irrespective of whether you run xp 64bit or Vista 64bit.

Ram *can* help with some latency issues, but when you are talking about audio latency, that tends to be entirely different, and to do with the sound architecture employed by the operating systems, and the fact that Asio bypasses it entirely.

Hey if it's not broke, don't fix it! If XP is working for you on your gig machine (which it is for me) don't feel the need to be pushed into using Windows 7. However for your everyday PC, I would consider upgrading because it is well worth it. I've been using the RC on my home machine and I notice I big difference in responsiveness.
