uuuhhh thanks everybody ... the whiteout is how buford handles typos ..... yeah it's his own unique thing , anything on the screen that doesn't seem right , just white it out .......
but the D recovery drive with only 18% free space can use more free space ......
maybe i can delete recovery points ??

The D drive will be a full manufacturer system restore which is independent to windows' system restore. Most laptops will come with software to make recovery dvds so that you can remove the partition to free space. If this wasn't an option but you feel you are computer competent and have access to a windows installation dvd and are happy to hunt for your own drivers then you may also remove the partition. By remove I mean either of two options, 1) you format the partition -or- 2) you resize your C so that it is larger overall.
If you want to delete recovery points, open your start menu and type in disk cleanup (if you're on xp it's under accessories and system tools). Under the more options tab there is an option to delete all but the most recent restore point.
However, if things are appearing on your screen which simply should not be there, it's unlikely defragging will fix your problems, at the worst, a badly fragmented drive will only slow your system down.
