2. Vertical Or Horizontal
3. Stackable
4. On-Off Switch
5. Hot Pluggable
6. Security Lock Slot
7. Mac and PC Ready

Good luck with purchase

Oh great! I just purchased one this evening from Office Depot. Paid 160 for it. Since I opened it I guess ill go ahead and give it a try. I have 4 externals using a total of 487GB across them. I'm tired of having issues with the club cpu using multiple externals which is why I went this route.

I guess ill keep my club segment updated on my current external dedicated for it just incase the 1.5 takes a crash.

I own two of the Seagate 1.5TB external hard drives and both have had zero problems.

seagate in there defence, has been okay for me for the last few year and i have three ehd, just damn lucky i suppose.

must have missed it thanks

I'm crossing my fingers now! 2 small harddrives down and 2 more to go copying things over to the new 1.5TB. What's great is I'm finding I don't have to rescan all my songs!!!!

The problems usually occur with those 1.5 Seagates after transfer. I just did a buddies transfer from his old externals to this 1.5 SeaGate and it failed the 2 weeks after all transfers were done! Also there are alot of reported problems with these drives from other people as well.

Basically what I'm recommending is that after your transfer, don't delete the files from your old drives till your pretty confident!

For the person that asked what a good hard drive is, almost all manufacturers of hard drives have problems now and then, it's part of the problem with moving part computer products. But lately the Western Digital My BOoks have been a real good series. I personally own 2 TB's, 2 500GB and 2 250GB WD My Books and all have been running for anywhere between 1 and 3 years with no problems!

By the way, Newegg has the 1.5TB SeaGates for 119 a few days ago on there daily deals.

well I just completed 3 out of 4 external transfers to my new 1.5tb. I guess now is the time to start praying!

There were some early issues, but they have been addressed. Read here.

For those of you who have the drive question...is it supposed to get extremely warm?
My small passports didn't ever get this warm and neither have my wd mybooks.

Yes the Seagate 1.5TB get very warm to hot.

Wow! Thanks Bonaparte for verifying. Hot is is more like it. I hope it doesn't melt! LOL

I have had Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung and Maxtor drives all fail @ certain points. For me its hard to say one is company is definitively better than the others.

Like we say at work: Its not if a hard drive fails, its when they fail. It can fail after 1 day or 8 years later. I had a WD that worked for a day. They all end up in the bad parts pin. I just got a Seagate 500Gb sata drive for my laptop, it lasted 2 weeks. I noticed it was a little louder then my previous drive. Should of took back that day. Oh well, going to swap it for a new one. Don't buy 1 drive, get 2. Backup your stuff. I have all my music on 4 or maybe 5 drives. 1 at a offsite location. In case my house burns down, tornado or localized EMP.

i got 2 of the new seagate 1.5 drives.

when i first got them, i set them up in Raid - Spanned giving me a 2.75Tb partition.
But after some time, one of the drives had a hiccup and i lost 90% of the data (in Explorer)

i used a utility to ressurect the data (Restorer 2000).

Now the drives are set up as 2 seperate 1.5tb partitions, so i have less work to do if things go tits up again.
And i have a full backup on all my old drives...

Although it sounds nice to have 1.5tb in your system, i would still recomend 1tb drives insted.
