Hi I've just downloaded Virtual DJ for the first time and I must say it's a good piece of software. I've bought it as I want to use it for a school fair to send music out but could someone tell me if you can do talking in between tracks to make announcements and the like or is there a plugin or something I would just like to be able to not have to use a PA system and be able to do it in between the tracks. Any help is appreciated thanks!

First off, I will say it before someone else does, if you purchased VDJ, please register it. It will give you a neffty icon under you name.
Now, it really depends on your setup. I use the Hercules RMX which has a built in sound card. You could get your self a mixer to use a mic. But I believe you will need at least a sound card to do this. Anyone else, please correct me if I am wrong. But for me, I use my RMX.

Thanks but I would prefferably not want to use any hardware and just the laptop. I've got to grips with using it and don't want to use hardware I don't understand so is there a way I can do it with the laptop I've already tried putting a mic in the input but it didn't seem to work is there some sort of option?

I've never tried it because it the quality might not be that good, but you should be able to plug a microphone into your laptop.
I think you need to look at your settings in windows. If you go to Control Panel, Sounds & Audio Devices. A box should appear, click the "audio" tab in that box. In there is the settings for recording and playback. Under "sound recording" you could click the box for "default device" and see if there are any options there. Just try all the different settings (on my laptop there's only one option). Also, in the same area of the screen (under "sound recording", theres' a box titled "Volume". Click that and make sure the different options (like "mic") have the box checked and the volume slider towards the top.
Try it agin now to see if you get any sound.
