Topic: What do you think of the super oems?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I've had my TT-500's for a long time now and one deck has had 0 problems pretty much its whole lifespan and the other is now not as tight as what I believe they once were; verified by having two identical tracks in sync with quartz lock and listening for the drift as well as toggling Virtual DJ's absolute mode (of course this latter test requires vinyl which are assumed to be in perfect condition). I've uploaded a short video here which demonstrates platter instability? Maybe not the best terminology but it does result in drift. The end of the video also shows the platter not stopping as it should.

Anyway, moving on, I have a couple of options. Keep them as they are and go 100% digital, I've been thinking of getting a VCI-100 when my soundcard gets 64-bit drivers; send the turntables to Numark and probably pay a small fortune for repairs; grab myself a bargain for a 2nd hand pair of 1210 mk2s on ebay or go for a pair of brand new super oems, particularly the Kam DDX5000 which are going for £180 each with a flightcase.

The 1210's are probably the most sensible option but if these super oems are good then it may be a good choice, I won't be taking these turntables to any clubs, although they may be used in different indoor environments. For anyone that doesn't know, these are made in China (already a problem for some?) and all have the same reference model, manufacturers rebrand them and maybe add new features. The Stanton STR8-150 is a premium super oem but there are alternatives for what is essentially the same turntable, here's a list which I found at the Native Instruments forum:

  • Stanton ST/STR8-150
  • American Audio HTD 4.5
  • Citronic PD-45/45mk2
  • Synq XTRM1
  • Akiyama Acura DJ-4000
  • Reloop RP6000MK5
  • Ominitronic DD5250
  • Kam DDX5000
  • BST PRO-PR4.5
  • Koolsound TDJ-04

So, anybody have any experience with these? If I can get a pair of good conditioned 1210's on eBay for ~£300 that would seem to be the best bet, what do you think?

Well I think that will be your safest bet mate, they do go on forever. I've had a pair (1210mk2's) for 12 years now and are still going strong.

But if you do fancy something different, out of your list I would certainly have a good look at the Stantons. I have heard that they are very good, and the motor generates some good torque and has a very strong motor, it's suppose to have more torque than the 1210's or any other TT.

Cheers Jimmy. I did make a bid on a pair of MK2's with a fairly decent Vestax Mixer but was outbidded by what I can only assume was the seller trying to inflate their sale prices. The bidder which beat me had 0 feedback and the seller e-mailed me within 5 minutes of the auction close saying that the winner has pulled out and offered me the deal for £70 more than the auction closed for! In total this was actually £140 more than what I should have won the auction at, I'm sure this is against eBay policy but nevermind.

Won this earlier which seems insanely cheap, maybe I should have phoned for more details but hopefully it works out. Just need to pair it up now and rid my old turntables, assuming it all goes well!

Anyone have any comments on the super oems? The 1210 I won on eBay arrived today, pretty decent condition for the price but am having problems with the pitch on it, I think I may need to get a new pitch slider.

0% and -8% are fine, but it only goes to about +7%. Similarly, going slower from 0% jumps straight to about -1% or faster 0.4%, neither 3.3 or the +6% are in the correct places either. Is the pitch fader knackered or do you think it's something else?
