hi guys,i need help from you i want to buy vdjpro to start mixing videos,so a bought the djm700,and did a search in the forum and made all config but i can´t get it working,when i try to add a map,for ex;fader,many buttons move as well as bass,mid,treb,crossfader,gain etc,,i dont even understand the midi config in djm700´s manual,can you please explain how to get it working?my sistem setup is widws xp pro sp3,3gb ram, core 2 duo t7700 2.40,Nvidia 8600gt 512mb,2 dn-s5000,djm700,and serato sound card,thanx

Yep thats how it works - controls audio and midi at same time. A benefit in someways because you can map the video to the crossfader and it will also control the audio for you. What you need to do is figure out all the stuff you dont want to use on the mixer and use all that stuff for your midi controllers.

For example I use channels 1 and 4 for audio decks 1 and 2 so no midi mapped to anything there. Then I use channels 2 and 3 for video effects so no audio plugged into those channels. I use the CUE button on channel 2 to open effects then use channel 3 slider to select effect then channel 3 cue button to toggle activate. I use the TIME rotary switch to select tracks in the browser and the TAP button to load the track to unused deck. I use the beat up down buttons to clone decks, etc, etc.

let me know if this doesnt make sense and I'll make a utube vid for it showing how I did it but yeah the beauty of vdj is you can customise everything to suit yourself.
 
hi musicalcheers,bro,first of all thx for the help,i dont want to use like the way u said,even so i would not get it working,i want to use only ch 1 & ch 2 to control audio & video at the same time,so when vid is there i can fade to black etc,when its audio i can have plugins for audio like camera etc,the problem is that i can´t get it working the right way,i don´t even understant the midi config on djm700´s manual,it gives sinal as i told u before,but it doesn´t work properly,may be a should make a video explaining?i think the prob is that i don´t know how to config the midi on software,what is increments,value?what value should i put there?
 
Should just need to turn midi on (button near top right) on mixer. Then select general midi config in VDJ and add the key you want - then move the knob or press button on the mixer that you want to assign and you should see it appear in VDJ. Save it and you're done.
 
Bro its not that simple or maybe its my mixer prob,i told you that i did all config,hours and hours trying,yes it moves the faders but not with real response on the software and every button that is midi assig on the mixer is working even if i did not comand it,it will fade as well,It shows the midi signal jumpy when i try to program any of the knobs or sliders the values change to diferent numbers everytime you move it,is it my mixer prob?please man,i need help.
 
I wanna buy this mixer, I've already PM musicalcheers with some questions and he hasn't reply yet. Maybe he's busy, we shall wait and see.
If anybody is using the DJM 700 (with video) that can help djnands and myself will be greatly appreciated.........

hi DJPR1,its a very good mixer to work with,very nice sound quality,effects are also great with the filter,my only prob is midi,It shows the midi signal jumpy when i try to program any of the knobs or sliders the values change to diferent numbers everytime you move it,is it my mixer midi prob?please some one help us,i promise u,i will buy this software soon,just help me to get it work 100%,thx
 
Yeah no doubt is a good mixer i've read all reviews on it. But if midi doesn't work the way it should with VDJ than is not good for me as i will try to use with video.
 
Hmm, problem is I dont really understand the question.

The thing with the faders is they move in 1 digit increments which makes them a bit twitchy if ur using them to control effect select for example - is that what you mean? You cannot turn off audio on this mixer - It will ALWAYS do the audio function whether you select that function to do MIDI or not. Thats what I mean by choosing things you wont use for audio to control the midi. For example you cant plug a cd into Channel 1 and then expect to control effects via midi with channel 1 because every time you move the fader to select an effect you will be adjusting the volume on cd1.

OK maybe you need to delete everything you've set in midi config and just try to get one thing working correctly first. So delete all the things you've added in midi config and try this...

To set crossfader - turn mxer off and on to reset. Press midi off/on button at top one time (screen says midi on). In vdj go to config/remote control/general midi/config then click ADD then choose mixer and crossfader. Move the crossfader on your mixer and it should say at the top CTRL11 and when you move the crossfader you will see the value going between 0 and 127. Click on OK and thats it - load some songs and you should be able to crossfade between them. Let me know. Follow the same principle for everything you want to set - sometimes you have to play with the options on each key to get them doing exactly what you want.

The way you tried to set the crossfader at the beginning of the video is correct. For some reason something between your mixer and the pc is stopping the data.

My guess is its something to do with the midi interface you are using - what exactly is that box and what is it doing? Doesnt appear to be a normal interface. Possibly doing some sort of converting on the way thru. Do you have a standard midi interface you can borrow from someone to try?

Also what is the software you are showing at the end that is monitoring the midi? Is it possible something in that software is stopping the data or converting it to something else maybe?

Got the DJM 700 and is F@*%ing NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first i bought the midi to usb midi sport uno and could not config. VDJ to mixer......after two hours of messing around found out that this particular model of the midi sport uno was defective. Took a ride back to Samash and exchange it for the Edirol UM-ex midi to usb, came home and wallaaaa it took me 5 seconds to config the crossfader. Midi on the DJM 700 is very responsive and effects are awesome. Got a great deal on it with a $300 rebate that Pioneer is running till March 1.

djnands at first i was having the same problem you explained in your video and i double checked my midi ports and I had the midi out from the mixer to midi out on the Edirol. I switch to midi in on the edirol and wallaaa, good to go. Double check your midi ports you never know, sometimes the solution is right under your nose.(it happened to me...LOL) If that's not it i will definitely exchange your midi hub.

hi guys,i´m still waiting for my new djm700,i had to returnback,it has a midi issue,so while i´m still waiting,i got a question,how do use a headphone with midi mxer?because with midi the fader will be down and up,so when the fader of a channel is down i will probably not able to ear anything coming from the mixer headphones,thnx
 
sounds good... i wanna get that or the djm 800... whats the big 400$ difference?

and did you buy VDJ yet? might wanna register :)

glad to hear you're back bro, i thought you gave up...

disable your crossfader from the VDJ options and now you can cue thru your headphones the normal way.
