Topic: Need Some Help Debugging Video Freezing.....

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Well...

Its been a long road of testing and trying things....

I had narrowed things down to power surge... I was noticing that the program was freezing once in a while when i would hit the open droor button on an old school cash register (i bartend while a video playlist runs on my laptop). So i got a surge protector and im connected to a dedicated power source.... SO its been better.... But, last weekend when i hit the register button one time the music definitely hiccupped but it didnt freeze....

So... my question to the gurus is .... Is it possible to have some sort of electricity issue beause the laptop is setup close to a lot of electronic equipment????

hi there.

im pretty sure its not annissue with virtual dj, per say..

but do you see these issues when the bar is closed, turn the cash register off...
see if the motors on the refrigerators, when starting up, might be causing power issues too.

maybe the lighting is overloaded? try all the lights and any dj effect lighting all on (with register off)..

Hey, thanks for chiming in...

So far i've noticed that if i dont use the register i dont get the freeze.... So if there is some sort of surge issue whats the best method to avoid the problem?

It sounds like you may need some sort of power conditioner, or some sort of UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) back up

Have a read of this

get rid of the register... remove it to another location onto a different circuit, or.... free beer for everyone, Jim and me will be around quick sharpish, lol

Too bloody right :)

My old used to have the subs on the same outlet as my computer before all the goodies to keep things running smoothly. It drained the hell out of my computer when the subs would thurst for more power. It took months before I realized what was happening. One day I started my computer ( desktop ) and it wouldn't power up enough to get to the dos commands. It had enough juice to run the fans thats it. I started to freek out of course but eventually it started normal but after about 20 or 30 minutes of stripping the computer apart. One day it hit me what the problem was. I almost sent my computer back to manufacturing.

We all go into a place of business and set up as usual but not think about how many plugs are on the outlet or breaker. Even on the basic surge protector with 20 plugs going into it. We tend to think everything is and has been working so far.

Most cash draws only use a 12 volt solenoid to fire the draw. For that to cause the problem it must be dragging down the whole power supply in the till enough to cause a surge on the AC. Very strange indeed and unlikely but not impossible I guess. Are there any cables running behind or under the till that might be moving when the draw opens? Anything else that would draw a lot of power plugged in with the till like a fridge or coffee grinder.
