Topic: Sony Vaio Crashed!!

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

A week ago my sony vaio took a dive during a show and carshed. My cpu usage was completely maxed out. Completely frustrated I tried to get it up and running again on site but without success. I went to the retailer but they would not exchange the computer, told me to call sony. I called sony. They want me to ship this computer to San Diego to have it repaired with a turn around time of 2 weeks. I told them I'm out thousands if I go two weeks without it. They said I have no other option. Yesterday I bought a Dell with a 2 year warranty offered by the retailer. Won't have this problem again. I'm shipping my vaio to sony and when they return it I'm selling it on ebay. I'm posting this to warn users considering a sony computer. Their customer service department is incompetent, rude, and unwilling to work with customers to accomodate situations like the one I was in. Be careful when selecting your computer not to wind up in this situation!

Cant speak for customer relations at Sony, but I've heard a lot of good feedbacks about that PC line..
Maybe you where unlucky at some production error or something, or maybe a bad model

But they look HOT ;) Thats for sure

But PCs have personalites, I say... one never know what one gets

I am in the UK, and have had 5 Sony laptops and handhelds used for DJ'ing in 10 years. I've only ever had one issue with a dodgy LCD screen, and the laptop was back within 3 days.

Sorry, I can't agree with you. As far as I am concerned Sony are the pinnacle of reliability and I would never recommend anything else.

sorry to hear this

the sony's have a good reputation , but doesn't sound like good customer service

well, look at the bright side .... if you didn't have a back up system , now you do .....

i hope the dell works out well for you .....

i reccomend HP they have good units and VERY good service .......

another way to get a cool backup is to use icdx ........if the lappy crashes grab a disc outta yer emergency cd book and away you go .....lookin' good , or if not lookin' good at least sounding good (i realize in my modest way that not everyone can be as good looking as Chuck )

In my personal opinion Sony laptops are general good.

However the consumer Sony Vaio are absolute garbage, they come riddled with IRQ conflicts which stop audio and all sorts of devices not working.

I've always bought high end models, no issues with conflicts etc.

With regard to the original poster, it now turns out your PC has a virus, that is probably what caused the crash and not the laptop itself. 1st rule is never to let your DJ laptop have access to the net without having necessary precautions in place.

Hopefully you'll learn your lesson this time!

you don't have to be on the net to get infected .......

how can u get infected if you're not on the net? I mean I'm going to never even turn my wireless card on. So I would think nobody can get to my computer if its never connected to the net.

all you need to do is load an infected cd in the cd rom/dvd drive or insert an infected thumb drive into a usb port .......unless it's a store bought cd in the shrink wrap , better scan it with your antivirus first ......

also you can turn on your wireless card and not get infected .... if you don't connect to the network .....

where do viruses come from ??

the people who make them .... not the internet .....ONE of the several ways that they are distributed is over the internet

a plain old cd or stick/thumb drive are great ways to transmit malware

you can borrow a home made cd from a friend and get infected ......if it can gain access to your computer somehow , someway ....that's how you get infected
