ok well im trying to buy some turn tables...im ganna buy some pre owned ones to start off with...i just want to have them to practice...and if later on i want to go to TCV's i want to buy some turn tables that can be used as time codes ....which do you recommend??
发表时间 Sun 18 Jan 09 @ 8:56 am
Recommendations really depend on your price range. One key element is to get decks that are direct drive, NOT belt drive. Any turntable can be used to operate timecodes as that is really a function of the timecoded vinyl that spins on the turntable. Technic 1200 series are still the industry standard and for a good reason. They are built like tanks and have plenty of torque. Numark 500 and TTX's are new comers and are also very well built. Stanton also make a good direct drive table in the STR series. You do get what you pay for, I'll leave it at that.

it is a set up of some cheap ass turntables that are made for people just wanting to get in to scratching but honestly not worth the investment cause it wont work well for learning. and if you do get better or want to advance you are out of luck cause you will be looking to buy turntables again

发表时间 Sun 18 Jan 09 @ 9:45 am
um .... i dont know. If you can afford them and plan to stick with them i guess. I started out on used 1200's and years latter ended up selling them. They guy i sold them to ended up selling them.... they worked fine through each of our hands. I say get 'working' used make some money and put money aside for gear....to be exact i say get used 1200's and get a good mixer

one more bit of advice when checking them out.....
The platter is the round plate that the record sits on and the spindle is the metal tip in the center of the platter that the hole in the record fits through. The spindle can be used to make adjustments in speed; you’ve probably seen DJs pinching and twisting it. Strobe dots are the marks on the side of the platter that are used to ensure your turntable is calibrated correctly. When the platter is spinning at exactly 33 or 45rpm, the strobe light will cause the dots to appear as if they are standing still.

They do go on forever, I still have my first set of 1210's set up, still going strong after over 12 years. I used them for mobile work for quite some time, and the only thing I've ever done is replace the phono/ground leads.

yeah thats the main thing.... they can be calibrated or if they are slightly of if you mix by ear you may not even notice :) but it is a good way to drop the price ;)

i love technics. had to do a few repair jobs on them (mainly replacing the pitch fader due to drink spillage) you can get kits to replace pretty much all the parts and re calibrating them aint that difficult either. proberbly the worse part abouth them is the amount of screws to undo if the on off switch pin drops.
if i had a choice it would be technics all the way baby YEAH!

technics turntables:
sl-1200/1210 mkII, m3d, mkIII, mkIV, mkV, m5g
vestax turntables:
pdx series
super-oem turntables:
synq xtrm-1, reloop rp 6000, stanton st-150/str8-150, american audio hdt 4.5, citronic pd 45 ultima, kam ddx 5000,... (they are basicly all the same turntables from the same manufacturer, only a light difference in the finishing for the "reseller"-brand)
numark turntables:
ttx-series, tt-500
no matter which one of these you choose, they are all very solid an professional. they all will do a great job as dj turntable. i own technics mkII, vestax pdx200 and synq xtrm-1 and i prefer the technics, but i had previous gigs with the others and they are also very good turntables.
but my advice is: don´t choose a level among them, it´s not worth it. it´s like throwing your money in a river.
