Any cons that you guys can think of, besides the price? I want to get to get familiar with it and comfortable because a lot of the clubs that I mix that, always seem to have that available. Also because of the Midi controller, that way I can control VDJ and the videos. What are your thoughts?

I second that motion. Haven't had any complaints at all.

I use one with VDJ and the CDJ1000MK3s...You can steal my CDJs and probably get away with just a few broken bones. You take my DJM800 and I am going to gun you and the rest of your family down...does that explain how much I love this mixer?
Honestly, and maybe I am under utilizing it, but the only MIDI I have mapped is the crossfader to the video cross fader. I use the channel faders to control my music (but then again I am not a scratch DJ).
My only request would be that on the next version of the DJM they add some "Custom" midi buttons, that I can use to map to VDJs looping...or effects, etc.

I totally agree with you! The only downside to the mixer is that there is not a dedicated MIDI section. I have a few of the other buttons MIDI mapped (ie most importantly the gain in the program) but there is not many options as with a mixer like the Nou 4, which I owned previously. Other than that...The best mixer I have ever used.

I want to get this mixer for using it with the controller denon hc4500 but I'm not sure if midi would work along with the controller plus vdj.

WOW u can't map custom funtions?
what can u map then besides xfader?

If you plan to use the native support or a mapper for the HC4500 (When these are finished) this won't be possible because generic MIDI mapping and the native support for the HC4500 can't currently be used at the same time.
If you use MIDI only and manually map the Denon HC4500, it should be possible providing the mixer is set to use a MIDI channel that doesn't conflict with the HC4500.
Alternatively, you should be able to use a Denon mixer that supports X-control. This enables the mixer to send its crossfader position to the HC4500. I'm hoping to support this feature in my mapper for the HC4500 to allow manual video crossfading from a compatible Denon mixer.

That would be great currently I own the dn-x500 but I have no luck neither with native support or via midi, if you incorporate the option to add a midi mixer for linking the video through vdj would be great :)

Let me be a bit more clear. I have not run across any button/switch on the DJM800 mixer that I couldn't map (although there may be some, such as in the effects section)...but all of the buttons / switches have a purpose: Gain, EQ, Effects, Control, Mix, CUE, etc. As far as I know, everything outputs a MIDI signal as well as controls the mix. I want a section of buttons (some knobs might be cool too) that do absolutely nothing on the mixer except output MIDI signals. That way I can map them to functions in the VDJ software. The DJM800 already has two seperate effect sections...imagine if I could also map into VDJs effect section, thus being able to use 3 effects at once all from the mixer (you can already do it with the mixer + keyboard|mouse to vdj). I like keeping my hands on my mixer and TTs, so the more I can control from there, the better.
So just to try and make sure I am clear...You can map to custom functions, but there are no "Custom" button/knobs on the mixer that you can map to without it also controlling the mix in the mixer. LOL, I hope that is clearer.
At one time, I had all the EQ and gain controls mapped...but then I figured, why? I go straight out of my mixer into the crossover and amps...so what does it matter what the gains / EQ settings are in VDJ. I have the gains in VDJ set to Always 0.

okay so u can take any of the knobs & map them the way u want.

Yeah Marco, you can map pretty much every button, knob, and slider on the 800. The problem is that those buttons, knobs, and sliders control other functions on the mixer. There is no 'dedicated' MIDI section so you kind of have to pick and choose which buttons you aren't going to use and use them as MIDI controls.

i doubt pioneer won't have soundcards for a while. they have alot of dvj's to sell. You most likely will see a dvj with a harddrive. what would be dope is if both plugged into one external hd.
I'm wondering whats up with the midi behringer. Also its time for a $300 range scratch midi board (stanton maybe)

My personal Pioneer prayer is that they are working on a CDJ with a full spinning platter. I don't care if the thing is as big as a vinyl TT...I want a spinning platter. And before you start in on me about there already being spinning platters out there on CD players...there isn't a Pioneer CDJ out there with one, and I want Pioneer quality.
