the file supplied by virutal dj for timecoded cds: VDJTimeCode.mp3 will only work with cd players including a volume control. such as the ones you could buy at bestbuy or target.
other cd players such as denon dn-s3500 and pioneer cdj-800mk2 require a modified version of the file.
the file modification is the volume reduced -13dB.
thanks to skyfxl and dj-alf for the help.

Thats true.
Many consumer soundcards have line-ins made for input levels from consumer gear (mp3-players, most cd players etc) that are at a level -10db
VDJ timecode mp3 is made for that level (usefull to most users and soundcards).
some pro gear have loud outputs at +4db (Pioneer CDJs and more) that will play the mp3 too loud for your soundcards input (if it does not have a gain/volume setting for the input) resulting in saturation of the timecode sound.
Therefor one need to lower the volume of the timecode mp3 if using the most expensive cd players (+4db out) with a consumer soundcard (-10db).
The difference4 is really -14db, but the -13db comes from me.. and it works too :)
