I have been searching the forums for answers to my question but can't seem to find any. I have two Numark TT500's, Shure M44G Carts, and Gen. 2 TCV. When I play songs, the speed (BPM) of them does not stay stable. It jumps around +/- .5 BPM about 3 times a second. You can't really hear it when the song is playing, but it gets annoying when two songs are beatmatched, and they eventually get out of sync after 5-10 seconds because of this. The only things I can imagine it could be is the turntables (Numarks have a slightly bad rep. for not being able to hold a tight beat), or my TCV. I must be honest that I have been pretty hard on these guys...there are some scratches, and one is even getting warped. Is it my TCV that could be doing this? Can I change something in settings to help this? I have it set in Autolatency, and relative and Smart vinyl modes have produced the same results as well. Thanks in advance!

Tcv's don't last forever especially when you run your needles heavy, and don't clean them.

test with regular vinyl 12"s, it could be the tables, the pitch on numarks is a little sensitive making beatmatching sometimes harder if you not used to that, but it should not sound unstable as you describe. If regular singles sound and hold ok then it's your TCV's, get some nice new gen3!

I assume you have quartz lock set on the 500's. When you do, does the TT platter lines, illuminated by the strobe, drift at all? If they do, your 500 motors are coming to an end. 2 year old 500's I have just had the motors quit. 1 quit altogether and the other can't hold a steady bpm any longer.

I have read that the 1st gen 500's didnt have proper ventilation and were prone to overheating and failure, i believe since then they had changed the design slightly to help the issue.
