so I am playing 2 tracks and when I go to listen to track 2 in my headphones to make sure its right...it records what i heard to the audience or on my recording...how do I sample the upcoming track without anyone else hearing it?

So you are saying that it is "playing" the music of whatever channel you have the headphones set to?
Check your settings and make sure you have the channel selected for 1/2 3/4 correctly. One will be your headphones (for example channel 3/4). You want to then hook your line going to the board into your 1/2.
I honestly have to fool with it every show for some reason. Just try switching the channels around a bit to find out what works.
