Is there a way to access mp3s on an ipod through virtual dj? Itunes renames the files so they are only recognizable Itunes.

No, not unless you enable disk use & use your ipod like an external hard drive. VDJ can't read the songs as they are stored by itunes.
 
unfortunately no , this is done by apple to all players.
