I think it 's for the best
well i was deciding on a rackmount pc or a shuttle pc since i have two laptops ( a dell latitude and hp compac nx9010 ) and neither one can do video like it's supposed to.actually the dell is like 4 years old and it works better than my newer hp!!
anyways... i bought a used shuttle xp for 300usd which came with a low rated video card (ATI Raedeon 9700 Pro AGP video card with 128MB ram, outputs: DVI, VGA, S-Video) which i'm going to upgrade soon .
But guess what .. I can do videos like a pro !! i can put sonique fx on top of the video and still no problem(knocks on wood)
Also just got an x-session uc-17 which i'm working on configuring right now.
I finally sold my tascam x-9 mixer -hoping to get the korg zero 4 upon launch(if not it will be the djm800)
AND to top it all off , I am now the newest member of VDJ Radio!!!!
Yay for me!!! :)

Ok, you got rid of the toy, and got a real computer. (Laptop users, I am only kidding). Glad things are working out. I had an ATI 9600 before I got my nVidia 6600. It worked well, until the fan went south. I even ordered a new fan, but have never installed it.

Thanks.... is there any difference you see with the new card versus your older one?

To be honest, I don't know. At one time, I had a lag between the video and audio, when using the 3 song power sets. The first song was OK, but got progressively worst as the mix went on. I don't remember what I did, but it was not just the card. I think I still had the lag when I got the card.

From another Shuttle user, glad to hear.
And the best part is you can UPGRADE if you want to.

Well I just built a nice high end shuttle back in january, and it has no problems doing video. If you would like specs PM me and I will be happy to give them to you. The shuttle I have hold 3 internal hard drives. So you have plenty of room. For performance I put my OS on one drive and videos on other drive, and MP3/karaoke on the other. SATA2 drives as well.

I went rackmount - good performance
shuttle / rackmount doesnlt really matter but as long as it isn't a laptop

@ marcel: i was gonna go rackmount .. but i'm in and out of town soo much figured i can get away on the airlines better with the shuttle as a carry on . besides the last time i sent my road ready slant case to detroit it cost me 60usd and that was empty !! think i'm gonna sell that case now if interested i'll post pics of it.
@funnyb0nz: i was gonna build my own( actually still might for a second set-up..but for the price with everything installed i just couldn't resist it ( all i had to do was plug it up install vdj and mix) :)

The system looks nice, however when working in small dj booths like usually wind up doing, laptop is better, especially if there are more than one dj's.
