What I think would be extremely useful is the addition of a catalog (the DataBase) in which we can create categories to classify our songs. This would be very useful for persons who have a lot of songs that wouldn't all go in the same categories...

You are able to have that ability already. You create a folder for example "70s". You copy all your songs from the seneties to this folder. If you have songs which will fit in more categories, like for example "70s" and "Soul" you place the mp3 in one folder and a shortcut to the file in the other folder. In this case you have your songs only once on your drive.
When you open the folder with the shortcut in VDJ, it looks like a normal file and you will even be able to drag and drop the shortcut to one of the desls.
