Can I apply these FX to my pads? Or use them instead of the hardware FX on the DDJ-FLX10? I'm new to VDJ so please be gentle. : ) I've DJed professionally with Serato, Rekordbox, and DJAY Pro for years though. I wish it were a little more user-friendly to swap pad FX in VDJ. Like just right click.

Yes you can - all effects in the software to deck audio can be applied as a Pad FX version - all cases is just the same vdjscript running for the effect.
Read here to start (and prerhaps go through that entire manual, it's really well written and has the answer to probably 99% of newcomer questions): https://virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/interface/decks/decksadvanced/effects.html
Pad modes are freely creatable via VDJScript, and are mostly freely assignable via right-click + select (compare that to any other platform which needs you to maybe andhave a free space for a new pad mode have to map each pad button separately).

The issue with just "right click select" for changing pad modes is that effects can have multiple parameters to control how it executes. What parameters are you getting with a right click + select of a particular effect? Do you have to select parameters during that? By the time you do both of those you could write a script to capture that quickly and put it on the pad button (see the VDJ script page and locodog's script school page).
Switching between hardware and software effects or even having hardware effects available is totally dependent on the hardware you are using, but what you would find is whatever happened in that regard from where you came from with respect to effects, is also what would happen here - the hardware defines what is possible, software effect usage VirtualDJ would handle, otherwise the hardware controls what you get.
Atomix devs also write excellent manuals for hardware so that you are not guessing what the mapping is - take a look at the one for the DDJ-FLX10 here. If you don't get the answer there or in the User Manual/Wiki, you can come back here, but do ttake the time to read and understand those sources before coming back here, because it shows you want to learn how things work with VirtualDJ.
