I changed the Numark NV USB port to another one and the device stopped working. VirtualDJ no longer recognized the sound card (NV Audio (WASAPI)). I checked the sound settings and noticed that the sound card had changed to 2-NV Audio (WASAPI). I changed the new USB port and the same situation. Now the sound card had changed from 2-NV Audio (WASAPI) to 3-NV Audio (WASAPI). By changing the sound card again from audio setup the device works again.
My question: Is it possible to change the sound card name back to the original one without the number in front of the name.

It's Windows doing that rather than VDJ I suspect. Look in your Windows sound setings.

The numbers come from your OS and they are usually related to the USB bus that the device is connected.
VirtualDJ itself does not rename how your soundcards appear on both OS and application level.
