Seems like a defective crossfader to me...
Just a quick question: What happens on both ends ? (Far left, far right ?)
I doubt that the crossfader has moved out of it's place that far, but did you (or any non-qualified personnel) opened the unit ?

The physical ends match the VDJ ends.

If the ends are OK I'd expect to see some kind of jump or inconsistency at around the point where they don't match.
If you move the SRT fader very slowly from one end to the other, can you see anything irregular happening to the fader on screen? Try in both directions.
I see there are posts on the Pioneer forum where people have this issue on the DDJ-1000.
