Is there a way I can set say bank four pads which are used for sampler to stem pads

Ok so trying to set up as in video..get performance pads 3 to stems and shows up but controller buttons are still in slice mode instead of stems.
using laptop them stem buttons on laptop work am I missing a setting .
Video shows you don't need to go map these buttons...

When I use mouse in screen these stems work but when using controller pads as assigned in video they still in slice mode

I have done exactly as in video and not assaigned to pads...works on laptop screen but not on controller any idea why as it says vdj will automatically assaign
