I have my music organized in virtual folders and have run it that way for a long time but now for some reason every time I open Virtual DJ it re-reads all tags as if the songs and videos are all new but they are not. Any help would be appreciated.

Check if you have write access to your database file(s).
On Windows the main one is in your Documents folder, under VirtualDJ and the file is called database.xml. (I believe on Mac it's a similar location.)
And if you are using an external drive, there will be database files in the root directory of each external drive.
