I have had the mix deck now for a couple of years but have now built up the courage to load the vdj program. the trouble is I've found out the mix deck from numark is now obsolete and I'm having problems getting vdj and drivers to work. my question is: what driver do I need and why when I input the serial number as requested, does it come up as incorrect

It's probably only for VDJ LE v7.
You can get that exact VDJ version at the numark homepage, but you need the serial no to make it work

The same page also have drivers available for win7,win8, win8.1 and win10
If you have ever registered the serial no on this page, you should be able to get both the correct version of VDJ and see that serial no under your licenses on your account page:

For instance I have 4 LE version available for different controllers on mine
If you haven't registered it yet and have any kind of serial no for VDJ, you should register it (same link as the account page link above)
That will change your user type, and probably also make the correct software available on your account page:

The correct serial number should be on the sleeve that the VDJ CD was in.
