Now while I don't use 'intelligent controllers' but instead a basic DAC-3, the latest 1910 works very well. Karaoke does not lag and crash. Videos (all resolutions up to HD) play very nice via videofullscreen=1 and while 125mb more memory at rest over 7, the CPU hardly breaks a sweat.
Yes, have been applying the little settings posted here from time to time. And yes, I JUST redid my library for re-scanning last week. The Milkdrop and other audio effects are spot on.
Just installed on my main PC rig and no issues there either. Both use a generic 7.1 sound card:
