Topic: Flight Cases or any Portable Dj Cases! - Page: 1

由于该帖子的部分内容已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Im looking for a good flight case or any type of case where I could just set up my touch screen comp and RMX together and a Dj mixer near by with wireless mike setup....my amps will be set up on a stand alone flight case with wheels. It would be cool if i could put them all together but I can't find anything that could do this...Feel free to email me any links or if anyone has pics so I could have a general Idea of what to buy to help me set up quicker......And be more in order I guess you can say.....

Studio,

If you look at the 5th post on this page, you will see my RMX configuration.

The flight case holds my RMX (with ears) and my mixer which I run the RMX through in external mixer mode. There is also a sliding shelf on which my laptop sits, so would work for your touchscreen lappy, although it wouldn't be permanetly cassed.

You can get these cases with a 2 or 4U's at the front which would be ideal for housing your radio mics. The only exposed wiring would then be your main outputs, USB and power.

I had originally plabnned to do this, but decided against it due to the additional height the is added to the box, plus I only use my radio mics when mobile and didn't see the point of lugging that extra equipment with me each week to the club...

I'm still perfecting my setup, I have just found the correct right-angled RCA's as the connections from the RMX to the mixer were extremely tight at the back. I'm also adding flush mount panels to the back so that all wiring is hidden and the whole sthing will eventually be plug and play.

I'll be uploaded more picture as this gets closer to completion on my profile page.

Hope this helps,

Roy

I don't get your sytem Gagetman, why didn't you use the RMX with a Studiomaster C3X or something? so you didn't have a mixer taking up as much space and not actually doing a real lot.

That is exactly what i want roy Please Please email me the info on where i could find the same set up please! I SEARCHED HIGH AND LOW FOR THE SAME SETUP........I will be using a dell touch screen soon so i don't have to worry about over heating or crashes. But i could still fit it on a lap top stand I wish i could set it up when it looks like its in a box you know flat instead of being up like a laptop......But this will do...

Actually it's doing quite a lot...

Firstly, everyone knows that the quality of the mic on the RMX is its weak point. I used to have a Behringer XENYX1204 which did the trick but I also needed a backup in case of a software crash.

I tried several options, but were all much bulkier than this. The twin SD card player needed two inputs on the XENYX, so couldn't mix if necessary and really should have been rackmounted 'cos all the connections were on the back and it woldn't sit right in my booth.

I ruled out CD players early on. Why? 'cos I'm 100% MP3 and investing in a CD player of any sorts to me was a step backwards - I'd still have to burn MP3's on to CD which takes time and can't be done on-the-fliy.

The Q-SQ is perfect. Two good quality mic inputs, a iPod/Mimi Jack input but most importantly a bult in single SD card player. My laptop can spit tunes on to an SD card in seconds and I can put whatever I want on it - no burning - no waiting. Always updated at the start of a set.

Plus if any customer asks to bring specific tunes to play, I ask them to bring on an SD card. So I don't have to rip CD's or risk any dodgy flash drive coming near my laptop.

My last tune of the night is pretty much always from the SD card. That way by the time it's finished the lappy is already packed away - great for the club.

Plus now I'm starting to get in to video, I can use the RMX crossfader for video and the Q-SD does the audio.

Finally, no loose leads or connections - it's plug and play. Even with a C3X I'd have to make several connections. I'm mobile and club. This just works.

Is that enough reasons?

Studio,

I'm in the UK and got mine from KamKase. Don't know if they are sold in the US, but here's a link to their laptop/slant/combo catalogue page: http://www.kamkase.co.uk/products/standstores/index.htm

I have the CD19PC. I'm guessing you'd be more interested in the LAPTOP/SLANT 11U/2U.

Cheers,

Roy

Thanks Bro your a big help as always!

SD swings it but why didn't you buy a Denon controller with a built in sound card it would of been better than the RMX wouldn't it? seen as you have a conventional mixer.

Had the RMX for over a year, only got the Q-SD a couple of months ago.

It works for me. I'm comfortable with it.

Anyway I can't see the comparison? I have all I need flight cased in one box. I've not really looked at Denon that closely before, but looking at the web site, yes they have USB/MIDI mixers, but then I'd have to buy a pair of CD players just to get the jog wheels and pitch controls etc.

That unit cost me:

RMX - £270
Ears - £40
Q-SD -£250
Case £100

That's £660 all in - incuding a backup and auxillary input - Priceless!

Seems like good value to me ;-)

hi roy, why spend forty quid on two pieces of aluminium with a few holes drilled into it, thats not a swipe just can't understand why people will spend that on two pieces of metal worth less than a quid. i know i know, it's that time coming up where i keep saying humbug.... lol

Yeah, but they've got the Hercules logo on them as well and they came in a box with screws and spring washers. Packed in polystyrene and wrapped in plastic - They even had instructions!!!! Well worth the £40 ;-)

Must admit they do look good. Yes I could have made them myself, but hey all the holes were in the right place without me having to do any measuring, drilling or finishing, etc, etc...

I was thinking DN-HC4500 plus your mixer

Controller first and then the Mixer behind it so you can get to the cables

OK, this could go on forever ;-)

As with most systems mine as evolved over the last few years, from my original Hercules console to the RMX, adding the XENYX, trying the Twin SD player and then replacing both with the Q-SD - which worked out cost neutral!!

If I was coming at this fresh now then maybe I would consider that route. But I like the RMX, how it works/feels so why change it? Anyway the flight case wouldn't be any smaller so no real loss there ;-) Plus the RMX is £100 cheaper!!

Anyway, as I said earlier I'm starting to get in to video so the crossfader on the RMX now has a new life. Something I wouldn't have with the HC4500.

It's swings and roundabouts. I am where I am through my own evolutionary process. I'm happy, it all works, I've got work, I'm getting paid - Job Done...

Is there enough clearance with the lid closed to keep the laptop in the case? I was thinking you could put some velcro straps arocc the carpeted shelf to keep it from shifting in transport....then it would really be plug and play!

Anybody seen this available anywhere in the US?

Just tried it, and the answer is no. However it's not something that I would risk anyway...

Good luck finding them in the US. Maybe if there as enough interest you could get KAM to send a batch to the states... You never know...

use foam, correctly cut it will hold laptop in place under pressure, it's what i've done and works a treat.

There's physically not enough space in this case. Tried it in response to that request.

I just searched and Odyssey and Marathon both make similar cases in the US, and both told me also there is not enough room to transport the laptop in them either.

I used to have an all in one, laptop included. Like Tayla said you would use foam, Velcro and such fourth is just a bodge.

The all in one was good but it was heavy and you couldn't break the equipment down, it was all or nothing. Your system is just a mixer and midi controller so I suppose adding a laptop wouldn't be so bad.

roy, just one other suggestion if you want to carry it in the case you could custom make a new lid, if you need any help with that i gladly help.
