Topic: Pioneer DJM400, Good Little 2 Channel Mixer?

Been told at work, we are going to get a nice little bonus.

At the moment i've got a Gemini mixer at home (11 years old and it has never let me down) but I wouldn't mind upgrading.

I've been looking around and I like the look of the Pioneer DJM400, (my bonus should just be enough to clear it). It's only has 2 channels, but it is ideal for me at home. It will look great with my 1210's.



Worth buying?

I would say so yes, it's a very compact and feature rich unit, good range of effects, fader curves for scratching and more.
 
I was looking at that yesterday at the GC store. it is good size for small areas
 
I think it's the mixer for the job that you described, I like Pioneer stuff it always works and thats the main thing.
 
I don't like monitor options - It's not like djm800 or 600 with mix between master and channels -

Yes but it not in there price bracket either.

 
I had it for a yr, a nice mixer indeed bro, I used the shit out of it and it never let me down, esp. the effects. The space is a little small for a lot of cutting and crossfader stuff especially since you can hit the effect button often..........but for around the same price I would go with a vestax -pro, reason being 1. you can get the same effects with vdj and 2. the space and ability to manipulate both the x-fader and channel faders is even better.

I hope you realize that eventually you are more than likely going to need to go with a midi-capable mixer....in that case if your bonus allows then go with the 800. I used the mk2 with various external mixers b4 I realized I spent too much time controlling different things....especially when it came to videos. So if you can, leave the 400 alone. I use the ttm57 sl now and things r just peachy....he he

A nice little mixer it is but you can get better for you hard earned cash. A couple of examples would be an ecler nuo2.0/3.0. Beautiful sounding mixers which will kick the pio djm400s ass. Also take a loos at some ureis. The 1601/e/s & 1603 are great mixers.

Not sayingt he pio400 is bad, but it is over proced for what it is.
 

I have the Vestax PCV-275, it's cheaper than the 400 but the quality is better, 3 channels, more space etc, look at the vestax range, but if effects is your main interest, and you only need 2 channels you might prefer the 400.

Very nice Mixer Bagpuss, but just I don't like the White Face plate,

 
Not been funny but Iv just given one of those away, I hated it had it for . Flicking between one channel to the other re cueing was terrible.
 
The PCV-275 is not white, it has a silver finish with a gold sheen (depending on the lighting conditions), the look and feel of the mixer shouts quality in my view. It has excellent reviews on every site that sells it, like this one:

It has been discontinued though, and replaced with the black, 4 channel PMC280 (£350, same as the DJM-400), only twice as good as you can see below:

What do people think of the Vestax PMC170A.

I think it's a discontinued model now, but my mate has one and he said I could have it, as he is getting rid of some of his stuff. It's about 8 months old but it is mint condition,

The only thing I concerned about is getting parts or repaired if it ever plucked up on me.
