I know little about VDJ, and even less about the Ipods. I do know Traktor can read an Ipod as an external HDD.
Can VDJ see the Ipod drive connected to your PC?

Yes when you enable "disk mode" with itunes
BUT I am not sure VDj will play encrypted AAC files
