How about ONE of TWO options or BOTH???
1) To have a file appear a specified color (i.e. red) for a specified amount of time (i.e. 30 days) after adding it to the library.
I can't tell you how many time I create folder after folder simply named "NEW" or "NEWER" just to keep my hot files easily accessible!!!
2) Maybe just give the option to color code files PERIOD!
This way I could just color code files a variety of colors that would mean something to me and they would stay color coded till I decided otherwise!
***AND as a BONUS.. maybe a way to "sort by color code just so I could view my coded files without browsing through the entire folder"***
I think this could be done in a software upgrade or maybe more easily as a plugin!!
DAMN I wish I knew how to make a plugin.. I would be posting this in the download section instead of the wishlist forum :-(

alternatively you could create a filter folder
name: "New Stuff"
filter: "days since firstseen < 30"
with this filter songs first seen within the last 30 days will be displayed.. you can change the 30 to any number of days you want.. 60, 90, 91,93, etc.
