Have any of you experienced / moderator guys given this any thought?

I'm not talking about premium rate numbers to call, but maybe a fixed pre arranged fee for some 1 to 1 technical assistance.

The forums are normally great, but when a problem arises an hour before a gig, sometimes a quicker response is needed and i'm sure some people would happily pay a reasonable fee for this service.

i think it's a good idea.

i don't believe any of the competition does that

I like this idea, pay per use service, but keep the forums free. sounds good to me!

I think it's fine how things are.... I'd rather not pay :-) The tech team on here is not bad at all at getting back with you on tech issues.

i think the idea is to have that available should you run into problems you cant fix right before your set. the forum would always be here, you would only pay if you call.

Exactly, not as a replacement, it would be as well as the forums. Sometimes when working through procedures its easier to help someone if they can tell you what is exactly on their screen at the time etc.

I agree, awesome idea.

The first problem is language support as Atomix is world wide.

If you guys aren't networking locally with other vdj users, you should be.
I wear Virtual DJ golf shirts when loading in, and met two users last weekend two states over from me.
So the force is there if you know your fellow dj's.

That has always been my lifeline if something went down.

I don't see why the language is a problem. I initially meant moderators doing it off their own back. If the person offering the service speaks English, then thats the language its offered in. foreign moderators could do the same if they wanted too.

If i've got a problem that i haven't been able to resolve on the forum, but i was able to sort it out with a 10 or 20 minute phone call, i'd be very happy and wouldn't particually mind if the service was approved, endorsed or supplied by Atomix.

As for networking locally with other users, i'm sure everyone on here is really nice and a great bunch, but there is a bit of an Atomix mentality that all DJ's have nothing better to do than search and read forums trying to sort out computer problems. I'm happy with the friends I have thank you, and i'm not about to start up afternoon tea dances (or attend others) to meet fellow DJ's!! :)

I hate to disappoint, but i visit the forums for technical help, knowledge & support, not to increse my social network! lol

Gary.

ps why on earth would anyone wear VDJ branded golf shirts? I don't care if i'm the odd one out, i'm not wearing one and YOU can't make me! psml

Users (including myself) pack these forums with questions that have already been answered! I notice some of the same questions are asked OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Some questions are meaning less and are common sence. Can you imagine these guys keeping up with the forum PLUS phone support? It would be worse than Nurmark Que... it would be disasterous. Then you all would really be complaining. And if your going to reply well they should hire people.... answer.. from where? Like Que they would hire people that do not have the same hands on experience as the Teamers and Moderators do. Remember, these people are actual DJs that use the software. They are not reading what a computer is telling them to say or out of a guided book.

STEP 1L Instruct user to restart computer... etc....

Quit your griping and learn how to use the forums correctly and mp3jrick has a point... NETWORK with each other.
I think it's cool he wears his shirt.... Showing he has pride in Atomix/Virtual DJ. Like getting a polo shirt from where you are employed... he loves his job and likes to show pride in it.

FYI The forum was also created for networking.

so your suggesting we spend 24/7 next to a phone line for free ?

hard that it is to belive we do have the ocasional other thing than vdj like work holidays gfs ect , doesnt happen often but it does ocasionaly :)

another problem with support phone calls is sumerised bellow

ps the shirts are quite cool and it shows pride in what you do and who you work with:)

To offer phone support in English only would be a problem, I don't see the need to explain that.
For instance, Spanish is the predominant world language now, not English.

Nobody ever suggested that you put on a Virtual DJ golf shirt and attend a tea party.

The point was that VDJ users are everywhere now, and help is as close as the next room in some cases as I described.

i think the idea is that the phone support thing would be available as pay per use, i imediately assumed that the cash (maybe a small percentage would go to pay the cost of having the lines up) would go to the person making the service available. wouldnt you like to get a little xtra cash here and there?
