last week i managed to get VDJ to react very sluggishly by doing a LOT of recursing , searching , analyzing (on the fly) ..... so i'm wondering if that is the lappy or the software .....
then , i go to dl Trend Micro's PC Cillin .....and the whole payment , shopping cart checkout procedure was kinda strange ......
then , i'm getting skips again ......turned out to be Trend Micro .....so i'm back to using Alwil at gigs and TM at home only .....then during the whole trying to get rid of the skips thing i discover NONE ? of the system chosen recovery points work ?????? that's worrisome ....
then , i can't rip while playing / dl / etc ???????????? that , i uninstalled the secondary ide channel then rebooted ( works like a charm , easier than going in the BIOS)
anyway the skips are gone and it is ripping and playing while downloading once again so all seems well except i still don't know what the dealio is with the system restore ???? i don't seem to have any viruses ..... both Trend Micro and Alwil scan results came up negative .......
i'm gonna run chkdisk , then download rev 5 ..........

This is exactly why I run a dual boot system on my laptop. It just makes troubleshooting that much easier.
It allows me to only install the bare essentials on my VDJ operating system (thus no annoying AV software to worry about). At the first sign of problems I simply do a reformat. As you saw in my laptop thread... it allows me to indentify quickly if I am dealing with a software problem (like you were having) or a hardware issue (like I was having).

thanks i think i will implement that soon ... can't immediately cuz of this weekend's mobile gigs .........
i don't understand this though .... my reg cleaner and defragger are run everyday ...... when i run the reg clean , it asks me to set a restore point b4 proceeding ...... so where are all those restore points ??
