No they don't.

And I don't know why and how they dare call all this "modern" r'n'b, r'n'b it's shite in my view.

My personal fav is Marvin Gaye. Can't fault that.

So what I'm was saying about the Democrats and Repub...

Ooops!!!

Sorry, wrong "chuck" thread!

=D

Other than the old school greats like Ray Charles, I personally like the mid-late 80's and very early 90's R&B as opposed to all the R. Kelly "king of R&B" stuff that has overtaken the scene and airwaves since around the mid-90's.

I'm talking about groups and soloists like New Edition, Guy, Levert, Howard Hewitt, Freddie Jackson, DeBarge, etc.

That's what I'm talking about Quest... A little Rock me tonight, for old time sake. If it isn't love... I wanna get with you... See how the flow of how RNB sounded... Songs that made you get your grind-on.

Don't forget about the 70s stuff - I really miss you, Brandy " talking about his dog ". A little Rose Royce. and the Ohio Players.

You slow dancers know what I'm talking about. If you ain't at least 33 years old. It's going to be hard to relate this topic. AHHH, The memories

Just like what Steve Harvey said on the Kings of Comedy- It was music back then..

Jeffery Osbourne, Al Greene (the Reverend), and no old school R&B talk is complete without mentioning Marvin.

CQ..... Howard Hewitt ??? that's a new one on me ....i'll check that out , thanks .....

Marvin used to play drums in sessions for Stevie Wonder , and others before he ever SANG for Motown ........... i have this dvd and he says he used to play drums all afternoon , however long it took 'til they were done for $5 .......

Chuck, I have Marvin singing the National Anthem at the 1988 NBA all Star Game....talk about genius......its freaking incredible.....

THIS KIND OF THING IS WHAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT!!!

Yeah, he was part of the group Shalamar (another one of my favorites) before he went solo as did Jody Watley from that group.

Shalamar I catagorize more with Midnight Star, The Whispers, SOS Band, Five Star ...

Another Howard you might want to check out is Howard Johnson, especially his hit "So Fine".

LakeSide, The Brothers Johnson, Heat Wave,....I could go on and on.....

Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Dazz Band, Heatwave, Ohio Players. Oh these kids have no idea today. I remember seeing the Whispers as a kid with Shalamar!

In the same early 80's time frame, but COMPLETELY different type of music (sorry chuck, gonna hijack the thread for a moment and give it right back), I just got booked to spin a private Halloween party next Friday in Newport Beach here in California where Dave Wakeling (of 80's Ska bands "The English Beat" and "General Public") is gonna be performing.

Should be fun (I was a "skanker" for a little while when I was in a garage band before I discovered turntables in '87).

Now back to our regular R&B programming...

OK..now that I have it figured out...

Marvin at his best....and his worst.....all in one package. He showed up two hours late was under the influence of drugs, and or alcohol, and still did this performance....incredible.....

WOW .... you don't want it to end ......

who was it did strawberry letter 23 ?

The Brothers Johnson.

I have never heard the anthem sound so sexy before... I was ready to grab a female coworker and start dancing with her... Girl, you so fine. If I had some corn bread and some collard greens, I would sop you up. - "School days"

what next okrah ?? i probably spelled that wrong .......chuck (originally from jax fla ) youwimps ..... eat it , it'll put hair on your chest ..... ( don't give it to the lady folk )

Talkin to a brotha here. I'll get down on some Okra. And pass those greens would you please? :-) Thinking of some more groups: Luther Vandross, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Maze, Atlantic Starr, Cheryl Lynn, oh the list goes on and on.

i saw The Whispers 2? summers ago at the Mann music center here ........ that's some real singin' on , if i'm any judge of horse flesh (Groucho)

is there a way i can record that to the hard drive ? i think skyfxl says you can but i don't know how ..... also , how do you post you tube links ??
